Hi guy I'm new to the evo so don't mind my nubie question. I been having a rough grind noise come from the back of my car for a while now, did some Research And was told it might be the tcase so I went to HIS Motorsport here in NC and the dude there say it was the tcase too!!! So a few weeks later I went and got the tcase replace they sold me an shep tcase for 1400$$ Four hours later I went and pick my car and the dude there told me the noise was still there!!!!!! And they told me that it was my rear diff since the noise was still there Fter the new tcase. I had to pay the 1400$$ anyway cuz they won't that the tcase back since its was installed in my car already!!!! I didn't want to but what the hell could I do. My question is how does the rear diff whine sound like?? I search and couldnt find out exactly what it might sound like. My noise sound rough and hard grind through all gear and it louder while deceleration. If its not my rear diff then I might of been rip off by them (not saying I did) and hope I didn't. So can someone help me out pls?

 

It's more than likely the rear diff. The transfer case is in the front of the car by the transmission. When was the last time you changed the fluid?
