T-case or Rear diff whine

Hi everyone,

After driving with the radio off and windows up. I noticed a whinning noise coming from the rear of the car. I researched about the t-case death whinning, but everyone talks about decelerating and hearing the noise, accelerating and hearing the whinning. For me, I first noticed it when the car was idling in my driveway. Checked it out and it sounds like it's coming from the rear wheels, that lead me to believe it's the rear diff. Reading some of these posts, I'm getting paranoid and thinking it might be the T-case. I don't hear the noise while driving, but that might be because there's lots of wind noise. Also, engaging/disengaging the clutch doesn't do anything. What could this be?

Oh, I also have a loud buzzing noise once in a while when turning the steering wheel. It buzzes for a few seconds when I quickly turn the wheel then stops. I believe it's the PS pump, but that can wait.

If you hear it when you are idling it isn't the diff. The diff isn't moving unless the wheels are turning. You sure you aren't hearing a noisy or aftermarket fuel pump?

It could be the fuel pump. . . I read somewhere the walbro fuel pump were noisy. That is what's currently installed on the car.

So if it's not a rear diff, could I also rule out t-case?

The internals of the TCase and rear differential are stationary when the car is not moving....

Thanks everyone!! After listening to a few YouTube videos of people with walbro fuel pumps whining, it sounds exactly like the sound I'm hearing.

I was scaring myself ****less thinking I might need to drop a bunch of cash on the car already after recently picking her up not too long ago.

yah they call them whinebros. Check your power steering fluid level. Mine would do the same thing when i was going through the parking garage at my work. I topped it off and that was the end of it.

but its safe to say that the problem was rear diff. this new hum almost never happens, only when kinda driving slow or when i turn left a little. like when parking on a hump.
