CEL no cat questions.

Okay, so my friend was telling me that I could eliminate the CEL with a defouler not exactly sure how to go about it, or if it's simple enough to do it yourself? Does it mess with a/f etc?

Another question is, my ECU is flashed, if I was to take it and get the CEL removed would I need a complete retune or what?

Thanks.

a "defouler" is just a small tube to move the 2ndary O2 sensor out of the direct stream of the exhaust.. you can get them from any vendor, or you can make your own from parts at your local auto parts store... the instructions are all over the web.

I believe that your tuner should be able to disable the 2ndary O2 sensor anyways... Mine did.

And no, getting the CEL removed will not change your tune, you will not need it re-flashed.

yup... the reason people call them "defoulers" is because that's what they were origionally used for... they were for rich tuned carbed cars that's sparkplugs were getting fouled by the rich mixture... so by extending the sparkplugs out of the combustion chamber separted by a small hole, you were getting a leaner mixture which was easy to ignite, which would then blow out the hole and ignite the rest of the mixture. Honda also used this same principal on their "stratospheric combustion" engines used in the CVCC to ignite ultra lean mixtures.

It just so happens that a spark plug and a O2 sensor have the same thread pitch... so you can use a spark plug defouler to pull the O2 sensor out of the stream.

Antifouler is used to extend the O2 sensor further away from your exhaust.

^ This...Buy a tactrix cable and do it yourself with one of the walk through on this site or have your tuner do it.

You do have to reflash the info onto the ecu but it is super easy.

you can buy the defoulers for $5 at any auto parts store. You just have to drill the one fitting out with a 1/2" drill bit so the o2 sensor will fit in it. Then screw the drilled one into the undrilled one. All it does it moves your o2 sensor out of the exhaust flow to keep the chk engine light from coming on. It comes on with a test pipe install cause its not used to seeing that much flow. It worked perfect for me and never got any chk engine lights

or you could just run the car for 2 years with the check engine light on like i have. Agreed that it's not the best solution, but it hasn't caused any issues whatsoever because of it.
