which drop-in filter is the best for Evo8? Or maybe the stock paper filter is just fine?

I have heard many diff views on this but as far as I know, the stock is the best as others skew the MAF, coats it with oil or some other drama

The K&N drop-in makes a 5 whp difference. Filtration should be just as good as the stock filter too. I think HKS has a drop-in, but their filtration sucks.

heres the thing. How much airflow it allows its inevitably inversely proportional to how well it filters. Thus, the more air it lets in, the less well it will filter. The oil may help a little bit, but ive also heard bad things, from companies including Vishnu, that the K&N drop it can coat the sensor with oil.

yeah all these stories are true, I didnt have any but I have seen many VW owners having the same problems with their MAFs. Me and a bunch of vw owners are using "electric contact cleaner" from radio shack to clean those sensors and leaves no residue.
I used this maybe 3 or 4 times, so in my opinion it is safe. Just take your time and carefully clean everything in there.

here is the can and part #

I'm going for a drop in k&n, not too worried about the filtering capabilities or any oil messing up the MAS sensor ( ).

I am one of those who are skeptical about non-factory filter. I just can't buy the idea how years of test and retest by the factory engineers would not provide an optimum filtration and performance.

Any noticeable difference in the feel or sound of the car with the K& N drop-in filter? I just ordered one today.
