Mbc vs wastegate forge

Quick question
I had a forge wastegate on my old lancer and I loved it

But since I have an Evo is it more beneficial to use an mbc and how much boost would that get me to? I know how to tune just learning new stuff

And I have an Evo 9 turbo as well

Trying to search but I'm at work

I have a hallman pro, and i got 33 psi out of a 9 turbo with cams/injectors/bolt ons. However, the boost level you are able to make and maintain depends on your setup.

So I should just go with an mbc instead of forge so I can make the more, or will the forge hold the boost better?

An mbc doesn't replace your wastegate.

Wouldnt a 25 psi wastegate let you hold more boost closer to redline?

Yes, but without some form of boost control you'd be pretty much stuck boosting 25 psi at all times, across the whole rpm range.

Yes you need both a wastegate and some sort of boost controller. If you are only boosting 10psi or less then maybe a wastegate on its own will work but you need a boost controller also.

I have read up on it a bit, apparently if you were to go with a 25 psi actuator you will creep in boost at higher Rpms, dependent on your set up. From my research the best combo to control boost and bleed would be an 18 psi actuator with it preloaded and a gm or grim speed three port.

So pretty much the stock wastegate followed by a grim speed 3 port

Everyone has their preferences as far as MBC vs EBC vs 3-port, but the grimmspeed 3-port is what I use for my car and I love it.

sounds good thanks a ton, i decided not to get the forge wastegate then I might as well just buy an mbc and use the other money for something else.

ebc gives you gear-dependent boost control with the factory ECU, and i much prefer the "set it and forget it" mentality.

Fixed. EBC and 3-port BCS aren't the same thing.

Gear-dependant boost also isn't the only advantage of using a 3-port.
