So i decide to take my car to the track and see what she can do in the 1/4 mile..my car is a 06 evo mr with a stock 6spd with a quarter master twin dis clutch with a hydo tob. the car has its bolts ons and is pushing 389hp and 433tq on e85. the problem is when i took her down the track it had a hard time getting into 5th gear or wont even get in 5th. i was seeing what you guys think the problem can be. best time was a 11.8 at 116mph getting in 5th by letting the rpm drop and 12 flat at 105mph without getting into 5th and coasting to the fish line. the car drive fine as a daily and does not grind in any gears, just when pushing it, it just dont want to go in 5th gear.

 

anyone correct me if im wrong but the 6speed evolution tranny is not very strong, people who race try to stay away from that tranny and get a 5 speed, **** i have a 5 speed and im afraid to launch, to much to lose, thats just me though.

 

ditch the 6 speed bro lol at your hp level i would look into a 5 speed. Ive been there just aren't very good trannies to drag period.

 

yea the tranny does sucks for drag racing 3/4 way down the track got to shift into 5th gear if it let me :/.. yea plan for next year is to get a 5spd swap

 

shep offers a kit for the swap its no biggie and you can just pick up a used 5 speed and sell shep your 6 speed back as a core for a quick little refund. I feel so much better off with the 5 versus the 6.
