I normally don't use the AC unless I'm sitting still in traffic. I prefer to have my window cracked

i love my ac but it gets too cold in my damn car... My eyes would start to tear up lmao... Also it was so cold that the vents would build up moisture from it

I feel like i lose so much hp down low with the ac on. To keep myself cool I have to run the a/c on full blast in 95+ degree weather. Well i have cams and built motor, so i notice the difference.

I have mods and a tune, driving with ac on sucks. It's freezing cold but my rpms drop like a bag of bricks

My AC works great even though when you first get in, it is hot as hell. My temp always reads some high number like 122 or 119, could be because I park on a black top. After a few minutes the AC works perfectly. I use to have a 05 Evo VIII MR and the AC in the X is much better.

mine works fine in TX heat. i sometimes rather drive without it because of how poorly it runs in stop and go or the initial take off. once its already going its ok, highway speeds is better.

but like others are saying, ac works fine, just drives bad. feels like a major loss of power

i'm actually having a problem with mine....

it's nearly 100,000 miles and I don't think it's been recharged, but truly what are the symptoms of an A/C system that needs to be recharged?

I drove 20 min in heat with it on the other day. Parked, for a while (sun beating down on car) and then tried to drive home w/ it on as well, but it blew nothin but warm/hot air.

I fiddled with it a bit, and after putting the knob on "Max A/C" for a moment and then back to just regular A/C, it began working.

I figured something was just not quite clicked into the right position or that it was between two settings and thus not actually turned on.

Now, yesterday it worked great all day I was driving. Today I had windows down but after a while (Michigan heat can be like Texas and FL combined for a month or two in the summers) it was unbearable, so I rolled htwindows up and cranked the A/C. Nothing but hot air.

Is there a chance it is not depleted but that a switch or something is not working?

Thanks!

Houston heat can be brutal but the OEM a/c compressor worked very well... until it gave out at 70k miles.

I went with an aftermarket cpmpressor/condensor/drier and it does not hold up the same. The cost was less than half of the OEM($450 cheaper) and I didn't know there would be a difference.

Problem now is high pressure shutting down the compressor at peak heat of the day.

If it keeps happening I was told they would undercharge it and it would remedy the issue...

Im surprised of how many people feel that their cars were sluggish with the AC on. My 05 VIII with bolt nos and a tune, my AC is just enough to keep me cool on really hot days. But I never feel any real loss in power, if there is its not noticeable. In traffic with the AC on I can watch my gas drop in front of me mileage sucks.

I have the same issue where the A/C will intermittently work. If its really hot out like it has been recently in the high 90s it wont work at all. But from what I've looked up, this issue usually points to a leak. So your system may have been recharged but it might be slowly leaking from somewhere causing it to not work properly.

I'm gonna take my car maybe this weekend to get the system checked for leaks. Hopefully its an easy fix and I'll let everyone know how it goes.

I have an 04 VIII and while my a/c works just fine I hardly ever use it even on 90 to 100 degree days. I prefer to have the windows down, but then again im almost never in stop and go traffic. Honestly im probably going to remove the a/c as its not really worth it to me

that sounds exactly like what happened to me. when car had been sitting in heat for hours it can do nothing but blow hot air, no matter what. thinking the knob was just not turned to the proper position (even though it was on the blue sside) I turned it to red (hot) and it blew so hot I thought my hand would melt off.

maybe it's just an issue of the a/c not being able to handle the heat? but let us know about that leak check for sure.

that's something I may need to look into.

btw, mine worked after I posted yesterday and was working on the way to work this AM.
