My 2006 Evo IX was more of a dog off-boost but otherwise the AC worked fine.

I have lots of memories of my 97 Cobra with the DOHC 4.6 V8 also sucking big time with the AC on so I doubt it's purely the motor size.

Either car was a dog down-low with AC on below 3000rpm. V8 or otherwise.

On a personal note, I love how this is now an "AC issue." Issue. As if the car was sold with an inability to run its accessories. Times like this is when I wish for pics to be attached to usernames.
Well there are multiple pages where people complain about their car not running correctly using something that a lot of people use every single day. So to me, that does sound like an issue.

And I'm not sure what you meant by the pic/username comment.

Because, those cars are one-owner stock Evos and have not been modified who knows how many times, and tuned, retuned, re-retuned ad nauseum.

I'd like to see what you look like. Now even more.

Well I have to be honest the AC system on these cars really isnt much of a priority. I have owned 3 unique generations of evos and all of them sucked when it came to managing very hot climates. Evo II, III, V, VIII, VIII.

- Jamaica
- Louisiana/ Panhandle Florida
- Texas

Subaru has the same problem so its just not unique to us.

I'd like to see what you look like. Now even more.
But what if I wasn't planning on keeping my Evo bone stock? I was simply stating that it seemed like a large number of people had trouble with their A/C. I got the impression that even slightly modified evo's struggled with the A/C. Did I say the Evo was a bad car? Not at all. I simply said that a poor/non functioning A/C system is a deal breaker for me. Sorry if I'm picky.

I'm confused why you're so butt hurt now, and why you want to see me.

Your actions would dictate the outcome.

If a car is strapped to a dyno and it makes power while I release last night's baked bean dinner, does it mean that flatulence is the main cause of the gains? I'm not sure picky is the right descriptor.

You mean that I'm the one holding a gun to your head forcing you to post to me? Precious.

AC rocks because its cold... but OMFG DOES THE EVO ACT SLUGGISH WITH IT ON. It's impossible to cross an intersection without feeling the loss of 70hp! It feels like a Slow *** Honda. Not to mention my 1993 Toyota Camery takes off fast and better with the air on. I dont know why but the Turning ratio SUCKS ***** and the AC on sucks with the Evo. I dislike driving with it because of the massive amount of loss in power. Very VERY noticeable.

I just recharged mine. Registered 34* out of the vents in over 100* heat.

Agreed on both accounts.

I don't use the AC much but damn it really makes the car feel slow with it on. It's not as noticeable at freeway speeds but during rush hour traffic creeping in 1st or 2nd gear when the compressor cycles on it's like the car hits a wall.

Like someone else said I only use it when my gf is riding with me, otherwise I just use the windows instead. Not a deal breaker for owning the car by any means, but the other dozen cars I've owned in my life ALL felt much better with the AC on.

That's nothing compared to Vegas. When it hits summer, it goes up to 113F. I have mine full blast recirculating just to feel some sort of comfortable coolness inside the car

This is why I spend a lot of my time in my TSX. Although, I will say my Evo is not THAT bad when the AC is on. I refuse to drive around in 100+ degree heat with my windows down, though, as I am not a fan of showing up to places soaking in sweat. I'll take the loss in power. Every Evo I've owned has been lacking on the a/c department.

Also, I wanted to add since someone mentioned Subarus. Maybe the newer Subarus suck, but every GC I've been in has amazing A/C. My brother's 99 could damn near freeze you out of the car on a hot summer day. Not a GC, but my buddy had a 98 Legacy Wagon and the A/C in that car was intense as well.

I hate driving with AC on in the city. It's such a pain to take off from a stop, car seems like it barely wants to move and the rpms always drop down . Highway is fine, ac does the job ok but not amazing. I find myself a little hot sometimes. Either ways, everybody hates riding with me cause i Never use AC lol
