Quick question about A/C delete belt

Hola, fellow Evo owners!

I've got a quick question about the serpentine belt length to use when removing A/C unit from the car. A lot of places recommended a couple different belts, all around the 57" range in length. I have a 56" already on hand and was wondering if I could use that length. Would it put too much strain on the other pulleys or tensioner if it's an inch shorter than recommended? Will the tensioner be able to compensate for the shorter length?

Any help would be appreciated!

A/C was stock standard on all Evo RS models, as it wasn't an option to not have it. Mitsubishi Japan figured they model would not sell in the US without A/C for some reason.

The only things the RS did not come with was the rear wing, vortex generator, trunk lining and carpet, sound deadening material and insulation for the door panels/interior, radio and power windows all as an effort to save weight.

Because of the tensioner you can get away with a couple different sizes. However I think 56" would be to short and a real pain to install. I have not measured the one I bought but I believe it was 57.5", from what I have read anything 57.5 to 58, 5 or 6 rib belt, can't quite remember. You can get them at napa, take your old belt off or count the ribs with it on the car.

Also you can get one from mitsu but you have to ask for the RS non/AC belt.

Regardless of what I say, (I own an RS ) It's just the facts that all RS models came with A/C so it's not called an RS Serp belt, because RS models had A/C.

They are just called A/C removal belts and you can get them from STM for cheap.

Also Napa has one that will fit if you want to go cheaper for around $25-30

PN# you have to enter is 25060569

Also, this is the way to do it.

1. Release Freon
2. Drain / Pull Radiator
3. Release tension on accessory belt and pull old belt (1/2" drive & allen key)
4. Unbolt a/c lines on firewall 1 x 10mm bolt and lines on passenger side
5. Unbolt 2 x 12mm lines on a/c condenser
6. Pull out a/c radiator behind coolant radiator
7. Remove 4 x 12mm bolts holding a/c condenser
8. Remove bracket holding a/c condenser to the block (3 x 14mm bolts)
9. Replace old accessory belt w/ shorter belt
10. Replace Radiator and fill back up

Good luck.
