Question Battery in trunk relocation question...

Looking to relocate my battery to the back center of the trunk in my IX (see pic below for reference). For those of you who have done this, how were you able to secure the battery box without removing the rear diff as that seems to be in the way of doing anything from below. Many thanks in advance.

No worries. Unfortunately, it's not a picture of my car. The picture, IIRC, is from another member's awesome thread about how he re-wired the car and moved a lot of the electronics to the trunk. Can't remember where the thread was though

do you have to mount it in the center of the trunk. I belive I read somewhere that the left rear of the trunk is the best as it helps with weight distribution.

Thanks. I would think the right side would be better though to offset the driver's weight?

I was under the impression that center would be best for that but obviously prefer whatever is the ideal position. Any idea where you saw that posted?

BMWs mount it on the right to offset the driver's weight.

I like the idea of putting the ACD pump in the trunk but that would take too much work routing the hydraulics.

This is valid question that I pondered myself.

BTW, my BMW battery is in spare wheel well in center.

Also, I ended up getting a used AMS mini battery under the hood. Now, so much better balance. I no longer feel the weight of the battery and it's been holding very well even with AC on full blast! Now, I'm a believer in minis...

I am moving mine to the trunk this week. As much as I hate to put holes in the trunk floor, kind of no choice..lol I think I might just use self tapping screws from the top and then just crawl under the car with a can of undercoating to seal up where the screws come through..

If you have the money and want an extremely nice kit get one from Taylor! I got one and it is incredibly nice quality is top notch in every aspect from wires, to box, bolts etc they really set you up well. I put mine in the left drivers side. I don't track the car right now since its my dd so weight distribution isnt something I'm too worried about. If anything it'll be a drag car so I could care less.

Note: At least at my track if you put ur battery in the trunk and it's aftermarket or in other words wasnt in the trunk OEM then you HAVE TO run a kill switch no matter what. Something to keep in mind. I'll upload some pics of mine in a little bit

EDIT: Pics. If anyone needs more I can get em. Lots of guys on here have done it should be pics all over

Have to jump in and recommend the Accel Lightning cable. Way lighter than regular battery cable and way more flexible.
