Wife experiencing bog in 1st gear?

Ciao Regazzi (hi guys in italian),

So wifey was driving the Evo around and when she got back I was all smiles thinking oh yeah she can feel that new MIVEC tune I just slapped on; and she was like the car won't move and I give it all kinds of gas and then it suddenly takes off. That ate my big grin away like acid! I can't even call myself a novice tuner so I'm so proud of all the patches I put in and didn't get a code. I tried many times to recreate what she encountered but I can't

What do you think is going on? I called her out on it and she got pretty pissed off so I think she is experiencing something. Please don't tell me my groovey new MIVEC tune is busted. Sometimes she is guilty of doing the 3rd for 1st thing but I think we all are.

I agree. If you drive it and it's fine she obviously doesn't know what she is doing!

+1

I agree with the others comments.

Or it could be because of what she is use to driving. Remember the evo is a 1st gear beast like American muscle cars, or any car with a v8 for that matter. If u watch pros like ken block for example they spend very little time in first gear and shift immediately to 2nd where the boost will really kick in. In one interview he did about driving he said he'd usually shifts at no higher than 2500-3000rpms in first gear. (launches excluded obviously)

So, is it your wife that is experiencing the bog? Where does she feel it most?

bingo, just in first? from a stop? You shouldn't of really adjusted the cam timing down in the low engine load and or below 3000rpms area's....
Doing that can make hesitation...

Okay, I'll have to change that area back. I want to make the best driving experience Evo not just have crazy power.

Yeah... something like anything from 0-70 load (or so) and 0-3k should stay close to stock mapping... its not like you are 'making' loads of power in that area anyway. At WOT your load is going to climb instantly over 100 and you'll be in a different part of the map.

Yeah, I think that the Rally Map may be a bit to inspired for grocery moms. It's cool though, I'll just mod the map for super smooth driveability when not under boost condition. That should even it out some.
