RWD modern 4g63?

Hey guys,

My newest toy is a 1984 Dodge Conquest (rebadged Mitsubishi Starion) with the 4g54 SOHC 8 valve 2.6 liter. Before anyone asks, no a 4g63 head will not bolt on... the bore centers are farther apart on the 4g54.

This platform is just aching for a "modern" 4g63 swap. The transmission bolt pattern is the same as the old old style "wide block" 4g63 used in early 80's auto tranny RWD vehicles, not the same as the old style "narrow block" 4g63 used in DSM's, or the new style 4g63 used in EVO VIII and IX.

Transmission adaptor plates can always be fabricated, but it would be easier if there is a RWD vehicle somewhere in the world that uses the new style 4g63 with a RWD transmission. I know there are RWD vehicles with the 4b11, but were there any RWD new style 4g63?

I am assuming of course that the engine to transmission bolt pattern on the 4b11 is totally different than the 4g63... let me know if I am wrong

Thanks,

Keith

There are a few evo 0's around in NZ that are drift cars.

I was asking about any equivalent to the RWD Genesis Coup that existed for the 4g63 powered EVO's as a source of "bolt on" RWD transmissions.

Is there any plates that would work on the Nissan RB manual gear boxes??? eg the RB 20 etc.

Magnus Motorsports and Brent rau have built a RWD eclipse which has the 4g63 motor. that car now runs 6.8 secs on the 1/4 mile with 1400hp.

The Eclipse 4G63 and EVO VIII IX 4G63 have different bolt patterns for the transmission.

I have seen 4g63s in them... I would hit up one of their forums and research it... I thought about doing this before but never found a decent body to start a project

Why not run the Buschur plate with a T-56 instead of worrying about finding a newer Jap trans that will most likely be weaker? Great shifting, strong trans that would bolt right up.
