Start up issues

Car will not start up or crank, when I turn the key the lights dim and when I stop the lights come back on, if I keep trying the starter will make a click noise, i replaced the starter a few days ago and it worked awesome. Battery also reads 12.9 when off, didn't see what it was when started.

Any thoughts of the issues?

ground wire was my problem. right up top of the engine bay under the strut bar, theres like a 6" wire and if it becomes cut (like mine) or loose itll be a hit and miss. also any engine lights?? are you able to clutch start?

i had a problem where mine wouldnt start and did that same type of thing....turned out to be the switch on the floor when you press the clutch in. Somehow the switch had gotten moved and was not making contact with the pedal so it wouldnt let me start the car. Maybe not your problem but just throwing it out there.

I would definitely check to make sure nothing's grounding out. When you try and start look to see if there's any smoke coming from your wiring. On my S14 I had, the alternator was grounding out on the power steering hardlines, causing my whole harness to burn up. Fortunately I already had a new one standing by lol.

check your starter and dont keep cranking on it, i took my car to sears for tires and came out with a missing turbo bolt that landed on starter ground and welded its self to the starter. it gave me the same starting issues and cranking on it continuously fried one or my ground wires

Your battery is dead! Charge or replace it. Trust me the 12.9 volts it made means nothing since it wasn't tested while under a load.

definitely sounds like a dead battery to me. If it's dying in summer from occasional use, it will absolutely let you down when winter comes.

I am having the same issue, I think it's grounding issue since it only happens when it's really hot outside. Can you give me more specifics on where this ground wire exactly located that you are referring to? Thanks.
