AMS made 22whp with the BC 272s back in the day, and they spooled a decent deal faster than the stockers and picked up everywhere in the powerband.

Are you doing the install yourself?

Guys, we all know BCs are not the best, however, you're comparing a $150 purchase to a $700 purchase (S2s and Springs/Retainers).

OP, are you doing the work yourself? If you don't mind, I really don't think $150 for 22whp is that bad.

Are there better cam options? Most definitely. Would I ever put BCs in my car? Hell no.

However, if the OP is on an extremely limited budget and doesn't mind changing cams later on down the road the BC272s will definitely net you a decent power increase for the $150 they cost, for the time being until you have money to get S2s and a good set of springs and retainers.

This is Dustin from BC and i just want to put this out there. When we left CROWER in 2006 and Brian started BC we actually grew too fast and as with any new company we experienced some growing pains. We have fixed any issues we had years ago and had some employee changes and have new profiles for the 8 and 9. If any one has any questions or concerns please don't hesitate to contact me @ 619-749-9018 or email me @ dustin@briancrower.com

Glad we could help.

Are you at all mechanically inclined? With the resources one has access to over da interwebz I would venture to say that you could do the cam swap yourself.

Cool that you could post, although I have to say the BC line of parts for the Evo platform has a pretty negative reputation, deserved or otherwise. You guys have an uphill battle to change that negative into a positive. Maybe becoming a vendor or putting out some product tests might help with that?

If u dont want to put springs and retainers in bc272's are great in my opinion. Im currently running them and my car just made 603 to the wheels on stock valvetrain with just bc272 and hks camgears. Yes there is better out there but being able to use ur stock valvetrain u cant beat em
