Kelford 272 idle and drivability

to you guys out there with kelford 272s, hows drivability and idle?? stop and go traffic? stalling?

i have an 03 w/ ix turbo that drives perfectly with hks 272s but i really.. really.. want kelford 272s, but i cant determine what would happen to drivability because there are so many mixed reviews out there. some input would be appreciated.

kelford is a more aggressive cam. i recently installed 280 kelford cams in my car and the idle is kinda bad but thats what happens when you go with a cam that has more lift and duration. the stock ECU will eventually learn some what and adjust to where the drivability is better but dont expect to have the same drivability as stock with kelford cams. just not going to happen in my opinion. if you want to go faster then get the kelfords. hope this helps you out?

Ive been running Kelford 272s for about 8 months now. Great cam.

They gave me a nice top end with my 9 turbo.

Check out my graph:

Driveability is just like stock. No stalling, sputtering, or abnormal idle.

However i do have a 9 though. Ive been told that the loping can be tuned out on a 9.

They require a good tuner. They need some more timing at idle, and adjustments to the idle tables in the stock ECU. After that they are totally fine - without those tweaks the car dies at idle once it's warm.

If you can "search" this has been covered once a month for years now. I've actually posted my ECU idle tables in a thread asking this same question.... go forth and search.

I like them. They came highly recommended and they are great.

Of course, yes, you have to get a good tune to get it to not stall at idle.

I have a buddy who put them in and he had his car dyno tuned at some local shop, amazing power at top but when he comes to a light it stalls. I told him to retune and he refuses.

I was going to get the HKS 272's, but Kelfords are the way to go esp. if you are looking into a turbo upgrade in the future.
