So i had my Mi-Vec cam gear bolt out once and put it back in pretty bang up. Went to take it out for putting in cams, but the bolt is stripped now. I no people have had this problem before. Ive ordered a new bolt but how do you get the stripped bolt out?!

I dont wanna take the timing belt off so i would like to no how people got this bolt out still being on the car while being stripped.

And anyone no what kind of medal this bolt is?

 

Since you you got a new one, I would gently hammer a smaller socket on the head and see if it comes out with an impact.

 

Sounds like you should also replace the cam.

 

I'm assuming that maybe you are talking about the allen head plug that goes in the end of the mivec gear, covering the actual bolt? It's aluminum. You could try a bigger allen depending on how messed up it is...

 

UPDATE: I got the Allen bolt out.. It completely distroys the bolt but it worked. I got a punch and hit it with the hammer and the bolt spun out. Make sure you hit it on the outside of the bolt
