Keep the feedback on MBC vs EBC. I was about to get a MBC first and then EBC later, but I might just save up for the 2nd one if its better and doesn't allow for spikes.
Thanks

That's not really true. A properly functioning mechanical controller should be just as stable as an electronic controller.

I have a Hallman Pro RX mechanical controller on my Evo right now. It spools faster than the stock controller.

yo Mach, your article taught me alot but Al from pruven told me EVC will adjust for spikes while MVC cannot. And he informed spikes arent common but arent super rare either.... i definetly dont want spikes nor do i want my ecu to pull my timing because of engine heat/pinging.

Ditto. The Hallman unit I just installed is rock solid and also allows boost to develop in a much more linear fashion than the OEM solenoid. Once the turbo spools up boost hits 20psi the gauge needle stops dead at 20psi all the way to redline versus the stock 19psi down to 16psi taper. I love it.

You can believe whatever you want. I tell the truth as I know it, and I know a lot about this stuff. Take it or leave it.

First time boost controller shopping can be a bit daunting what with all those gizmos and features and brands out there. But if you go back to the original idea of controlling boost, it makes matters simple. Follow the tried and proven path.

1) Tight budget - any reputable manual boost controller will do just fine, set it once and youre set

2) got a little extra dough - electronic boost controller, i personally choose Greddy Profec B which is the easiest, most dependable and most proven boost controller on the market (ask any experienced turbo nuts)

3) unlimited cash - well, the Blitz SBC-id is one of the most feature laden and sophisticated boost controller on the market period. It's got more features than you can think of and probably more than you think you need,

For most people, choice no2 is a good no compromise choice, trust me you can't go wrong with a Profec B or the new Profec B Spec 2 which has a tiny little display for your boost reading (great if you don't already have a boost meter), forget all the rest, it'll make your head hurts thinking about it ( I've been there, done that, countless research on the internet, dozens of magazines, talked to every performance shops salesperson and bla bla bla, ok my head hurts again.....just get the damn Profec B

My Gen 1 Profec B has been incredible. Boost is absolutely rock solid and it takes less than a few minutes to have it tuned 100%.

the reason you want an EBC is because it will adjust boost to elevation (can run closed loop mode) while the MBC has to be readjusted

I have the Blitz SBC ID.

Its an excellent unit by far. Displays in PSI, very compact, dual solenoid design, very very reliable. Can turn up the boost with the crank of the dial, and there is built-in safety feature to prevent overboost situations.

any how often do most of us really go to the mountains or change elevation that much..... i'v had both EBC and MBC.... and i like the MBC because as dan stated it spools the turbo up quicker.... and i had noticed it big time on my GSX... the EBC spolls it up just a little slower.... the advantage of the EBC is just hit the button and change the boost compared to twisting the knob till you find where you want
