Car running rich, need help plz

Ok, my evo just had a full motor swap with about 35k on it along with a new stage 2 clutch put in it. Guys did a good job and the car was running good while i babied it to 500 miles to break the clutch in. After that i opened her up a bit, when i got on her my intercooler pipe popped off. So we put it back on and tighted it up. Got on her again and my exhaust pipe popped off lol. We noticed i was running about 20+ psi on the boost. So i closed the boost controller ( i think its broken ). Ran her hard again and she got up good and sounded good just alot slower lol. It was pretty sad with no boost. Anyway, after that whole thing, my air/ratio guage started spiking and now while idling it runs at about 17+ on the guage consistanly. I drove it to work today and back and lost alot of gas. Shes running really rich (was not doing this before). So we think theres an air leak somewhere. Either way the car is not getting enough air, so its trying to pump more fuel in there and its destroying my MPG and the car seems like its running rough. Any help would be appreciated, i know its kinda off the wall and no one will know exactly whats wrong. But like i said, any help at this point would be better then what im working with. Be advised im not the most mechanically inclined person, im still learning, so if some of the stuff im saying sounds off just let me know i wont be offended. At the same time please respect that im trying to learn and help me with what im wrong about. Thx

It could be a boost leak. Have you done an actually boost leak test? you might want to try that. And just so you know if it is at 17 at idle that is really lean. The higher the number the more lean it is running. The lower the number this mroe rich. It seems like you might have had that backwards. Dont worry. I did at one time too lol.

sounds like you have an exhuast leak some where. i'd double check all the bolts and gaskets.

You may have an exhaust leak and a boost leak. Don't drive it too much as is your likely to cause damage

17+ on an AFR gauge means lean. The lower the number the richer. Are you constantly running rich while cruising around? Have you logged with evoscan? My first guess would be the tune. I would then look at the fpr, boost leaks, and fuel system. Check that out and report back.

I have similar problem as you do since yesterday.. I may have to check the leak tests as well..

so if the exhaust is leaking, that makes car running roughly? mine runs 14.x-15.x on cruse, but idle, it's like 14 14.x 14.x 13 12 14 15 16 17 -- -- -- 17 16 15

exhaust leak could cause those numbers on idle??

it would have to be an exhaust leak pre turbo. ie; as in the manifold to head or manifold to turbo gasket. check all the bolts and nuts, make sure they are there for one and that they are torqued to spec. I'd then do a look over on all the fuel bits. Ensure no vacuum lines have blown off anywhere. Then do a boost leak check.

The exhaust leak would hinder power noticeably though. You'd see slower spool and soot around the area. A pre sensor/turbo leak would cause a leaner reading as well.
