highly doubt an evo X exhaust fits on an evo 8/9

oh forgot to mention, IF you have cams, just forget about trying to make it quiet. the lopey idle of the cams make it all THAT much louder.
my buschur was pretty reasonable with their HFC, then i switched to a 100 cell cat and it was very loud.
now that i have cams, im really regretting the cams, as the idle is sooo loud. but the power is sooo nice and i guess it sounds cool for the first 10 seconds then its just... meh.
i've stopped listening to people saying what is quiet, everyone's ears tolerate differently. look at the guys with headphones on listening to music that YOU can hear too and they say its on low.
quiet = stock exhaust
user option= varex

i'll be getting the varex after i fix my tcase. wasted about the same amount of money listening to people and doing different things.
why i think the varex will be quiet, because the fact that it closes the exhaust path. anything straight thru will be loud, when the path is blocked, it'll be less audible.

If you want power get a Buschur I think it is probably the least obnoxious of the power making aftermarket exhausts. It is pretty loud over 5k RPM' s.
... the road race stealth is super quiet and is 3" through. Idles like stock. When you are normally driving around it is quiet until you step on it. Ive had the greddy evo 2, megan racing, rmr, rre stealth, and tomei ti(current). The stealth was my fav out of all of them. Im actually having them build me another in a week or 2.

Hmmm. I've been considering getting the neck-down removed from my Tanabe. Maybe I can self-justify that move if I get a bullet muffler installed somewhere along the pipe. I want to keep my 100 cell, though, so it will have to be elsewhere. Also, I want the most effective bullet possible.

So
A. Where exactly would the bullet go?
B. Any ideas on the "quietest" bullet.

this is a good start:

I'll have to go back and look at BlueEvoIX's project again.

Eh, your poor attitude is becoming wearing. Your post isn't worth a response.

I have a Tenabe Touring Medalion on the way. I'd read it very slightly reduces to ~2.9" at the cat, and ~2.75" within the central resonator. Is this where you mean or does it neck down elsewhere? You could probably fit 2 x 3" versions in place of the stock central resonator as it's quite long provided where the exhaust sits there's enough clearance to the driveshaft and surrounding parts. The magnaflow resonators/bullets work well on my friends car but I'm not sure what other brands you have available or how they go.

at the muffler entrance, mine necks down to 2.65"

What the hell, more confirmation. I've read here of this tanabe on a 500 WHP car though, so I'm not too worried.

2.65" right at the entrance where the tip meets the body? What about where the pipe enters the rear muffler, through the rear muffler itself and also within the central resonator? If its only at the entrance there can it be modified?

I've heard of these on 430-500HP cars so I was under the impression it was decent.

entrance as defined by flow, where the exhaust pipe enters the muffler toward the front of the car. it's only right at the entrance and an inch inside. wonder if that can get easily fixed.

Well mines going to have to have the tip cut and shortened anyway as I have the JDM rear, so I might see if we can cut the muffler off and remove that neck down if possible. Wonder what it would do to sound levels though.

Do you have a sound clip with the noir?

I would really compare it to the stock exhaust without the performance restrictions. I ended up getting a loud exhaust again though because I missed the aggressive sound. lol

It certainly isn't the loudest one out there, but even with a resonated tp, I can easily set off alarms.

Thank you. This is exactly what i meant. Even at wot the stealth is quieter than most exhausts. Any 3" exhaust is going to be loud at wot regardless. Is flat black and looks "stocker" than factory exhaust, but is one of the best flowing pieces.

+1 on this exhaust. My gf even likes it now that we don't have to yell over it to have a conversation in the car. I'm very happy that I can let my car idle at my apartment complex in the morning while warming up. Before I had to pull into the street with my ETS. I'll also have to mention how simple and solid this exhaust is. Great quality without any weird placement of o2 bungs like I found with other big name US built exhausts. The silence made me love driving this car again.
