I have the HKS sport and JDM rear. You will need to cut the exhaust tip off a few inches for the JDM. Any exhaust shop can do that. It's straight no tap off, good quality and not too loud. It sounds very good at WOT. It looks like stock with the brownish oval muffler too. I'm in California and this exhaust sound is good for not getting the unwanted attention.

Might not hurt to give Road Race Engineering a call; i just had them make me one of there stealth exhaust for my evo 8 with a jdm rear and it came out great!! the fit was perfect and was much quieter then my previous exhaust which was a Jun b.l. i have a iphone video of it that one of my friends emailed me if you would like to hear it. not the best video though.

Buschur racing with a magnaflow muffler welded in place. Super quiet and stock looking.

pointless post, buschur sounds real good but doesnt help the OP who wants quiet, buschur is far from quiet. i have it, i know.

you want quiet, get the varex from map. or get the works exhale, or just put the stock exhaust back on. you already have 3 tickets man.

fujitsubo rm01- do not get, necks down like a mother, very quiet
tanabe touring- looks real good with jdm rear, good sounding imo, necks down of course.
greddy sp2- cant even find anyone with this looks real good

notice that the HKS Sport is not neck down, very light and no resonator but it's quiet probably due to the oval none-angle type muffler. I think it's not fully stainless steel so. I had a custom Magnaflow with a long resonator prior to the HKS and it's as quiet but not sound as good at WOT as the HKS. The thing I hate the most about some "quiet" catbacks is the sound too ***** at WOT.

Good post.

Personally, after being in this community for 6 years, always on the lookout for a quiet high-performance exhaust, I've come to the conclusion there's no such thing other than stock. I have a Works exhaust. It's not quiet. Not even close. At idle, sitting in my driveway, most of the dishes in the kitchen cabinets visibly and audibly vibrate. The bulk of aftermarket products promising quiet performance, in actuality, are not a whole lot better-flowing than what came on the car to begin with, but not as quiet and requiring an additional expenditure. Nice racket.

I have a perrin system, it was very quiet at idle until i put a test pipe in. Exhaust note is low tone but under load it does wake up quite a bit. Cruising it is quiet and if you go through the gears 2-3k shifting it is not an attention getter.

I thought the Perrin was pretty loud when I ran it a few years back. I used an Ultimate Racing cat on there. It doesn't beat your ears to death though like the Buschur exhaust
