Blew transmission bought 5 months ago at a dealership

Hi guys, i dont really post much on here but alas i find all the helpful info i can get when the time comes.

i recently blew my 5mt on my evo 8 in june, and happened to break it in front of a mitsubishi dealership (Cherry Hill). so i really had no choice but to get a genuine new oem tranny from them for about $4300.

on the highway this last saturday, i happened to hear a pop and blew my transmission again! the thing is, i have not been ******* the car, all highway miles (5th gear broke). so my question is, do you think that since i bought and installed the tranny at the mitsu dealership, that it will be covered under the part warranty? any input is appreciated, i just dont want to have to fork over another $4300 for this..

thanks for any input

Id sure as hell hope they have a warranty on that after only 5 to 6 months, most components part of a drivetrain like the tranny would carry a 12 month 12,000 mile type thing, it was new not rebuilt and it cost 4300 dollars, so YA call them and get your free tranny, that is redic that blew after that amount of time,

Kinda off topic but for $4300 what made you go with a oem over a shep or tre?

Well, he blew the trans and I guess he didn't know what to do except replace it.

To OP, even then $4300 is A LOT. About $1300 more than what you could have paid. I pulled up 3 different part numbers for trans and they should all be 5mt's.

Pulled them up on Mitsubishiparts.net and it came out to just $3000 and about $500 for shipping. You can even buy new trans from TRE that have had services done to them too.

I would definitely go back to the dealer and complain first before going any further.

Go back to the dealership and see if they will fix it for you before you start buying stuff.

use the 1 year warranty for sure, and for your future info, take into consideration on what these guys are telling you about tre and shep, these guys have been in the evo/eclipse dsm game for a LONG time and make great trannys/t cases,

my cars PO had the t- case rebuild by SHEP, due to death whine, and its been perfect ever since,
