Front belly pan/splash tray ON or OFF?

Hi guys,

Had my front bumper off and now I'm contemplating if I should refit the lower belly pan/splash tray?

Is there any advantage with regards cleaner airflow or will removing it assist with getting hot air away from FMIC and the radiator?

Tried to search but couldn't find any info?

Search undertray there are many many threads on it here.

You can make your own decision. Mine went in the dumpster 7-8 yrs ago

Yip read it! Interesting info, I was thinking along the same lines but the one thing I've learnt over the years is theory and practice are sometimes very different. Just wanted to make sure...

I'll be refitting my undertray but I'm definitely gonna change those stupid screw in plastic rivets. Fortunately BMW/MINI have something similar to the ones on the EVO's wheels arch liners that I'm gonna use instead.

I have always had one on. I have had random crap get thrown up while on the highway and smack the tray. Possibly could have taken out the lower intercooler pipe or worse the oil filter.

The Evo I just bought came with one, but it was not installed. I'll have to look into these clips and how to go about reinstalling it. The BeatRush one looks really nice, though!

I dont remember what the thread is called (I've posted in it) but the fender liners have a clip on them with a big flat face. Very easy to get a flathead screwdriver under and pop off. These fit perfect on the undertray and make removing it a breeze

I forget how many the undertray needs but they come in packs of two

mine is gone, didnt come with the car. my car floats at 100mph and you can definitely tell a difference without an undertray.

im going to make my own splitter out of alumalite and add 6 dzus fasteners so i can take it on/off with ease.

pro's: easier to take front bumper on/off, easier to locate a dropped socket or bolt, better gas mileage.

con's: you lose 1-2 mph in the 1/4, front end float at 70+, worse gas mileage.
