Long term storage.

I'm currently stationed in California and have a deployment coming up my plan is to take my car home to Minnesota where I know it will be safe. I won't be pulling the car out for over a year due to when I get back it will be winter. Just curious on what I have to do for the year year n half so it will be alright. I know the fuel stabilizer and pulling the battery n plugs but is there anything else I should worry about? Thanks guys sorry for the noob question!

Good luck on your deployment and I hope you return shortly and safely! My biggest concern is mice, they tend to chew on wires and build nest in the most inconvenient places.

I plan on pulling the exhaust and the turbo off since my buddy wants the turbo. Probably take the seats out as well along with getting some thick plastic to lay on top on the jack stands and to cover the bottom of the car and tuck the extra inside the doors and put a car cover over it. That's my plan of course who knows though. Thanks man I shall be as safe as I can. Those little bastards are sneaky though!

I think you will be alright man. You know, you could always store it in my garage. I wouldn't mind having an extra evo around Where are you being deployed to, if you don't mind me asking?

Right before I left for my deployment I just put stabil in with a full tank, put the car on jackstands so the tires wouldnt get flat spots, and changed the oil. I have roughly a month left but during mid tour everything seemed fine. The car got picked up by English and is now getting another full build in hopes of being done when I return. GL with your deployment

I would never leave a vehicle on jackstands when being stored for 2 big reasons: One, it puts stress on your suspension as it is now hanging instead of being at rest. If you're worried about flat spots in tires you should be increasing the air pressure in the tires to combat flat spots. Second reason I would not put a vehicle on jackstands is because I've heard horror stories about a house or a garage catching on fire or there being a major emergency. I don't know about you but I have a ton of money into my car and never wanna lose it to a fire. Being on jackstands, you won't be able to move that car if it needs to be moved quickly for whatever reason.

I will just take my tires off. If there is a fire I don't give a **** about my car as long as my family in the house gets out safely. That's why there is car insurance

fuel stabilizer, car cover, and all fluids are fresh and topped off. My car sat like this for 15 months while deployed and still sits like this from August (BR shootout) til May (BR sport compact shootout)...

This^. Fresh fluids are a must. I changed all mine before I left. Just check up on it on your mid tour.

I know a lot of people that "hibernate" their cars over the winter also put dryer sheets in and around the car, like the engine bay, trunk, etc. Thats what I did to my car and it keeps the critters away. I'm not sure if it would work long term like you need but it's an inexpensive thing to do to make sure nothing happens.
