im at 480 whp...it will spin 255 star specs through the first few gears...at anything over 450 whp...you will need alot of room on the street to do a pull...it will close football fields of distance in seconds...at 500whp+ point there are few opportunities to safely enjoy car on street(traffic)...i track alot...and there its all usuable and fun...my personal opinion is 380-400 whp is about right for usuable on street true daily...

Eventually you'll want more later on! Unless you get bored with the car game and sell it.

450hp will be plenty of hp......for awhile at least. I think the majority of us are into these cars for the need for speed. So while 450hp is realistically plenty of power for the streets, you will find yourself wanting more.

I bought my car with a stock motor, htagreen, some injectors, other needed boltons. I thought 430 on the hta green was gonna be enough.

Here I am now, 2.3l, hta86, just got some 2150s to go e85 and some hoosiers are on the way haha. So.......if you are content with it, hats off to you for having the control to not always want more.

Do what I'm going to do. Enjoy the 450, drive the **** out of it. Stuff back some cash/mods for when it breaks then upgrade stuff as it grenades.

I think 400-450 whp is a perfect street car, again once your use to that power level you will probably want more.

All I would need is a strocker and bigger injectors to push it to 550hp and max out the EF3 so that wouldn't be a hard upgrade or even push it to FB RED or BLACK so the option is open.

It's fun, then you'll play with someone faster on the street or at the track and its not as fun anymore lol

It's a slippery slope and once you start sliding it can be rough. Just set a goal AND a budget!!! Otherwise like many of the others on here you end up with a part-out thread on here

Why are you running E85? 320hp should be easy to achieve with your mods. I was previously at 340hp on my 9 turbo and I decided I wanted more. I wanted to skip the 400s and dediced to get a FP black on e85, Ive been at 500 for about 6 months now and I can easily tell you I want more power! When it comes down to its a easy choice to make it all depends on what you want your car for street or drag. You also have to consider budget and what your final goal will be. I would suggest to find someone to give you a ride in a evo similar to the goals you want, then you can make a decision.

I'm currently on the 9 turbo ef3 isn't in yet. If I go the black ill need to do the bottom end and if I don't its the wrong turbo for the power band and mods.

Current MODS:

Xforce TBE open dump with Varex

Dw 1000cc injectors

Dw 300+ fuel pump

HKS EVC 5

Weapon R intake

DUAL MAP 98/E85

Waiting on a delivery from map to bring me to 450hp

GSC S2 CAMS /w GSC beehive springs and Ti retainers

MAP Short Runner tubular mani

MAP EF3

Full Blown with 2 x DW300+ fuel pumps

1450cc FICS

Spoolin Up COB Kit

Turbo Smart FPR with Install kit

ARP custom age head studs 625+

Cosworth Head gasket

Ingalls Stiffy Torque damper

Oil Cooler HKS thermostat

Mushimoto Radiator and racing thermostat

Stance Pro Comp coil overs

ETS FMIC 3.5 Inch

AGP LICP

INJEN UICP

Gates racing timing belt.

Future upgrade paths Stroker with larger turbo and injectors which will free up the mods true ability.

Seems I'm going to spend some time on Ebay selling parts and turbos. Should I cancel the EF3 and get the FP BLACK now and just run it to 450hp?

You get used to what's around you, I think that's the reality. What's normal becomes the norm (duh). So 450 whp will be AWESOME for a while, and then you'll think to yourself, 'so what's the next step?'. 350 was killer for me but I'm always thinking about more...

I would vote to say that you will be more than happy, my friend. At the 450whp mark, depending on when you see peak torque, you are still in a relatively safe domain on the stock block not to mention your drivetrain should be very safe as well. At the 500whp+ mark is when things generally start to break.

There is no such thing as enough power realistically. You will be happy with it for a while until you adjust, eventually it will feel slow again. The only way to avoid this is to "reset" your butt dyno by driving a low power beater more often than the Evo. I know guys with 700-900 awhp who feel their car is "slow" because they are so used to it. A stock block 400-450 awhp with 400 tq is about perfect for this car, and honestly a bit much on the street. It will eventually feel slow when you get used to it.

I think your answer maybe in this thread on the same page...
https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...powerband.html

Lots of HP is not always fun on the street. Delayed spool is ok for track dragstrip but on the street it gets old fast. Low end torque with a nice top end punch, not too crazy, will keep it entertaining and not boring or annoying.
