So the car has been whinning for the past month thought it was the whine of death but today on my way home the car started bucking violently and grinding sound... when it was running all whinnjng and sounds would stop if I pushed in the clutch even when moving... back to today, after bucking it would drive then buck drive then buck ect. Then it just stopped moving all together was making grinding noise with clutch released.. after awhile I can put it in 1/2/3 and let go of the clutch and the car does not budge and hardly makes a sound even if I rev it up put it in 456 it makes a slight whine when the clutch is applied... thinking center diff anyone support that though? ..... also leading me to this when I bought the car I did a fluid change the the trans had 0 fluid in it... its a 05 MR

Does it shift smoothly or do you have to force it?
When my T-case went out I had a crazy whine of death. Sounded like a tranny with straight cut gears. When it went out, it did the same thing. Went into the gears but would not move.
Sounds to me like it's time to buy a Shep T-case.
I hope you can figure the problem out.

Sounds EXACTLY like what happened to my t-case when it gave up on me..
I wouldnt be surprised if you pulled the tcase and found this..

After sending it off to shep and almost 2k later, shes good to go.

 

If I was a betting man, I'd put my money on it being a dead t-case.
