Mirage coilovers similar to Evo V?
Mirage coilovers similar to Evo V?
I'm not sure if this is the correct spot to post this, but I've just recently picked up a 2001 Mitsubishi Mirage and have ordered some Evo V aero for her. I'm looking at coilover options right now and my question is, "are the Mirage coilovers the same as the Evo V's"? I will be upgrading to the 5 lug and brembos sometime in the future. I just don't want to have to purchase another set of coils. Thanks in advance everyone.
Should be the same as they are the same chassis, the big difference is the rear end by the diff. The normal lancers/mirage doesn't carry the supports and bolt holes for the diff support member etc.
That's what I thought too, considering it's an AWD vs. FWD. Might invest in some cheap coils to get me through til I save up for the drivetrain swap. Thank you.

No they aren't the same at all.
The rear is completely different. The front coilovers would "work", but the spring rates would be WAY off because of the huge weight differences.
I'd suggest popping over to mirageforums.net
Tons of experience over there.

yes the front carries 3 holes vs 2 on the Evo but i know of 3 mirages/lancers here in Barbados that are carrying Evo coilover suspension on them without any issues.
Mitsu Colts can't use the rear suspension.
by his description he means the CK chassis.

Then the would have modified it.
I can't remember if the mirage/lancers have the sway bar mount on the suspension arm or the strut, so that would have to be added on.
And the rear shock lower mount is different, evos use a fork with the bush on the arm while the mirage/lancer share the same rear suspension as the evo1-3 which has an eyelet mount with the bush at the bottom of the shock, so that would have to be modded.
