Oil Gauges and Turbo Feed Line

I'm looking for input on my specific situation. Currently I have a wideband on my steering column cover and (3) Defi gauges in the gruppe S HVAC panel. I have Boost, Oil Pressure and Oil Temp. I have both oil gauges tapped into the oil filter housing stock plug locations. This has worked great up until now that I am installing an EF3 from MAP. I need to use one of the oil locations on the filter housing to feed the turbo, so I can't keep both of my gauges hooked up there. I'm using the AMS relocation kit to mount the pressure sensor up near the shock tower and I like this setup. I was going to keep the oil pressure on the filter housing because it gives a great signal there.

I'm looking for recommendations or ideas on what to do with my gauges now...

My question: Is there another location to easily mount an oil temperature sensor? Or should I ditch the oil temp gauge and get something else?

I want to keep all my gauges matching by the way, so it needs to be something available in the Defi Racer Red 52mm

thanks guys

I don't really have any input to your specific problem other than you should consider that Oil temperature and oil pressure provide relatively minimal information on their own. They're sort of a package deal...

I think oil pressure is way more important than temperature and can be used by itself

I wasn't trying to start an argument, and I didn't say that they couldn't be used independently, I'm saying if you take away 1 of them, you're losing more than 50% of the equation in my opinion.

oh no, I didn't mean it like that either, but what do you think would be a good solution to my problem? I wanted to avoid running one of those sandwich plate things because I've heard plenty of horror stories about them... I don't think there are any good spots for oil temp though aside from maybe tapping the oil pan

use a brass T on the pressure sender location and run both sensors off the same engine tap location...

You can see he used a T fitting only for the oil pressure sensor, you can do both

You can run the oil temp like the factory MR and run it into the drain plug. That's how i set up my oil temp prosport gauge to get a reading.

No worries. If I'm honest, I don't have a good suggestion since I don't have either of these gauges on my car. BUT, I wouldn't run from the stock location for temp. Using a tee seems logical in my head too...

aren't those brass fittings notorious for cracking? I have the AMS relocation for my oil pressure sensor and the Defi temp sensor isn't that heavy. I'm not sure if it would give me problems or not, but I definitely wouldn't want to mount a large sensor right on the T like in that thread. I will see if there's a good fitting I can find at my local hydraulic supply house and try something a little different than the rest

another question, can you remove the factory oil pressure dummy light (in the oil filter housing) without any problems? Does it need to be installed? I really can't figure out a clean way to do this install. I would like to install my AMS line where the factory sensor is, and keep my temp sensor in the other plug with my turbo feed line in the main position on the housing

Not 100% sure but I think it is 3/8" NPT

the factory allen plug ports are 3/8" BSPT, the factory oil pressure sensor is 1/8" BSPT
