Evos and Auctions
Evos and Auctions
I've been doing some reading lately and I've seen that a few people have been getting their Evo's from auctions. To me this sounds like a bad idea because you wouldnt know the history of the car. I was wondering if any of you Evo members go to the auctions alot and see them there. Whether its every time you go or not. And how often do you see them there. And would you consider it worth buying at an auction.
I would only get a evo from an auction if you were getting a steal of a deal. It's also a rare car so I doubt it is something you would see at an auction on a regular basis. I've been to a few in baltimore and it's mostly bmws and mercedes

i usually go to dealer auction with my dad for the last 4 years off and on and only seen 1 evo only. You can ask yourself this, 1. would i buy a evo from a used car dealership? If yes, why not a auction?. 2 would i buy a evo from ebay? if yes, why not a auction? 3. would i buy a evo for a private seller? if yes, why not a auction?
btw: you can also by cars with auction guarantee meaning " you can pay a small fee and have the auction check the car out and if something major is wrong with the car, you can back out of the deal before taking it home.

There's a dealer in NYC. I forgot the name of it but they go to auctions all the time and pick up tons of Evo 8s and 9s at auctions. The evos are usually from Cali but on the lot its a hit or miss in the condition of them.
Buying a car from a used dealer is same as buying from auction. The used dealer will lie to you more than anyone at an auction cares to talk to you.
Sometimes, less information or "history" is better.

I buy cars from auction all the time, including another evo recently. It is always a gamble and there is always more to the story that the pictures show if you aren't there to see it in person (Most of my auction buys are out of state). Evos work out pretty well at most auctions as long as the sellers don't have a hold out. The ones that do are morons thinking they are going to get retail out of the car and will run it for weeks on end. You can usually get Evos from manheim for 3/4 to 1/2 moving average. $10k will get you a 'nice' evo, $12-14k will get you a nice low mile evo. Where I live you generally can't touch an evo for under $14k, and that usually looks like ***, doesn't run and has 873582730520 miles. The ones you want to buy are usually $18k+ around here.
