Oil pan gasket?

http://www.cimotorsports.net/Felpro-...i-EVO-8-9.html

Any body ever used this?

After my build there was a leak coming from oil pan, thinking of using this instead of grey permatex.

Thank for any input

felpro is the brand you'll often get if you head to the auto parts store. The oil pan/vc gaskets aren't under a lot of pressure, so no harm in using those.

I'm just curious, cause I used the grey permatex, and have a little leak. I wondering if anybody used one of these as an alternative to the grey RTV.

Reason for the leaknis that the pan is slightly bent and not seating flush. Also you should use the black rtv. Remove the oil pan use a flat work bench and a brass punch to the area leaking. Also you want to start all the bolts then tighten them all.

its specifically for sealing oil... in general if you have something messed up, dont try to cover up the holes with sealant. OFC you should use a gasket/ sealant; but if your pan is bent up either get it straight or replace it.

I really don't think my pan is bent. What we did the first time was lay the grey RTV bead, them we smoothed it out. Waited 5 mins then bolted it to the block then it sat over night. Then put the engine and put oil in. It's just a small leak. Enough to have a few small drips.

You just get the bolts started, and let it dry for an hour then torque them in?

Ive used Fel-pro from valve cover gaskets to oil pan gaskets and Ive never used RTV sealant, just the gasket and I have never had a problem. I did my Mustangs oil pan 7 yrs ago and its completely dry, I also did the Evo's valve cover with just tabs of RTV sealant on the adges of the camshafts and it doesnt leak at all. Just clean the areas and torque them to specs.

spend $40 on mitsu rtv and you wont have any problems.Evo Oil pan are not designed to work with a gasket and will eventually leak.

Darn, I just bought it cause it said it was for evo. I'm hoping fel-pro designed it to work.
