On the subject of the gauges.......meh Its your car. I've done stuff to mine people dont like. Its yours.....duwatchawanta
This ^ is so true, and it really is a shame. I hate seeing people get these cars just to abuse the **** out of them and do no maintenance
It was very cheap, VERY reliable, and very simple. Evos have come down in price significantly simply because of how they're cared for. A car that has such a high level of customization available, of course is going to spurn a fanbase that wants to customize the cars. The trouble is... with customization, comes "custom", and "custom" isn't a very re-saleable word. So now you have vehicles that someone paid a high price for, paid more to modify, and are being sold at a loss. Many were SO modified, that they became difficult to maintain or operate, and the owners just "wanted out". This leads to them being sold for a further loss, and since you have a very high powered, and capable vehicle being sold at a very low price, the next tier of people come in (which I welcome btw... just so you all don't think I'm a hater (hopefully my conduct on here indicates otherwsie)), but these people underestimate how difficult it is to live with a 500hp daily driver, and the money it takes to maintain one.
So then those cars get RE-modified, and or get daily driven, and the mileage skyrockets which of course drives depreciation.
Evo's are undoubtedly one day going to be a collectible automobile (especially if the auto industry continues in the direction it is), and the fact that it's significantly more rare than even an Sti, is going to lend to that value.
tl;dr
Evos are Civics. Keep yours in top shape, and it's going to be worth a pretty penny.
Ouch!!!!
Evos are the new civics? I don't think so. The FRS is going to be every teenage's dream. In my area... Everyone thinks evos are very unreliable and the sti is better.
But yes. There are some ricers for every car. Always someone to exploit a car in which others view as bad. But there will always be enthusiasts for evos and that makes it okay!

Its the mentality.
When I was into Hondas there were WAY more people that were doing things the "right" way and not opposed to spending a little cash for quality stuff. The generation after me was only concerned with going fast no matter what their car looked like and took short cuts.
Nissan guys (240 owners) were also notorious for this. Even now seeing a CLEAN honda or 240 is almost as rare as seeing an Evo.
Not all Honda and Nissan owners are like this. I'm proud to say I cut my teeth on Honda's before. All my Honda's were a progression of likes and tastes. And as I've been able to progress in my career I've been blessed to make moves I never thought were possible.
Now that Evo's are coming down in price these owners with a cheap mentality are jumping in and grabbing Evo VIII's and slapping some hellaflush wheels on their car and slamming it on some crap coilovers, buying a bunch of ebay parts to go fast.
Then something goes wrong, major suspension repairs or worse, motor pops or trans goes or transfercase.
"WHat do you mean it costs $XXX(X).00 to fix this". "Man Evos are too expensive and unreliable, I'm selling this now before someone finds out".

Being this is my 3rd Evo( and a ton of other cars) I've learned a thing or two modding cars, and we both know people who throw on crap are not here to stay for long. They get out of the game fast.
I've been in the 240 scene. And you know what? Those had to be the most beat up cars I've come across( drifting, obviously)
It kind of ruins it. Because I have a soft spot for those cars and I always want a super clean one when I get older. I just haven't found one lol. Maybe one day

And I also think that in the Evo community we are all obsessed of going fast. Big turbos and slow spooling maybe not the most fun car . I like evos because they are fun to drive anywhere and I think we should all make our cars fun to drive. I swear this mini cooper I drove was fun as **** to drive. I want that same fun in the Evo multiplied.
