I'll bet it didn't mention the STi will be available in May 03. Or so I heard directly from a manager at a Subie dealer last week.

As for making fun of cars... MAKE FUN OF MY FORD ZX2! I BEG YOU! He'll, I'll pay you to make fun of it! FWD! Automatic! Looks like a 2 door Escort! poor engine power! Come on! Make fun of it!

Anyway...

I didn't catch that little article in the MT. What page is it on? I sure hope its not true because I really don't think I could afford over $30k for the car. I'm a college student who only works summers.

My bro has worked for car dealerships for a few years, and has a lot of friends in many different ones. His rumour is that the EVO VIII will come here with a price tag of around $38K, Supposedly 285 HP, AWD. Don't know where his sources are or how credible they are?

Think about it though, why pay $35-$38k when you can buy off of Evolution Imports for $36,500, (including shipping to the US, taxes, duties, and conversion), as stated on the website. Plus, in many of the recent magazine reviews, mitsubishi has promised a base price under $30k. Plus, think of the intense competition with the STi. Only now, on top of the STi, there's the Nissan 350Z, The Skyline (which may or may not be brought over as a GSR model 2003, haven't heard much!), and the SVT Cobra. If all those cars plan to be under $30k, what makes you think Mitsubishi will overcharge it's buyers by $6-$7k? Maybe the dealers might screw you around only bacause of the number available, but if we were able to wait a whole year just discussing the car, why not wait a few months extra? I say for the EVO, It's worth the wait!

And seriously, all in all, I'm sticking with what Mitsubishi announced earlier on in magazines, and car shows where the Evo 7 was displayed! Base price = $30k or less!

The Cobra is a $35k car already on sale. It's pretty bad ***, too bad it's a Ford...

In 2004 or 2005 the GT-R is supposed to be offered in the US for under $30K, but I think that this is probably going to be for a bare-bones base model, maybe even non-turbo or non-AWD. The car sells for more than that over in Japan, and prices usually rise when cars are imported over to here (example- Evo = $22k-$25k in Japan, probably cost from just under to well over $30k in the US).

yea i heard about that around the same time the regular WRX's came out. but between the 2, i'd rather have the evo, it just looks better, not even discussing technical/performance details.

i dont get why the Evo VIII is gonna cost so much more then the WRX.....they basically have the same specs and they are both competing against each other. I love the Evo, cuz my uncle has one in the islands and it rides beautifully. but i have to admit, the WRX is winning most of the rally races. I think should drop the price and keep it under 35k fully loaded, itz more reasonable.

Have any of you check the prices for EVO 7 in Europe or Australia? Its about 43 000 EURO, which translates to about 43 K US $. Why would Mitsu sell it for "only" 30 K in the same spec?

You can't compare prices between countries cause the evo in japan sells for around 25k us dollars exchanged and in europe its about 37.5 us exchanged for the exact same car.

FYI, 1 US dollar equals 1.8695 AUS. That is the latest currency exchange. So if you say that the Evo is 43K in Aus. that would equal 23k in US dollars!! And the Evo in Japan sells for the equivelant of 24-25k US dollars. Sounds like they could EASILY give us J-spec and still make a decent profit if it sold for 30k in the US.
