in my opinion, guys, im guessing, by the way this is in canadian dollars. (im from Canada). the fact is that the evo, has to make a spot in the auto market and compete with the WRX. so i think the evo will cost anywhere from 35 to 40gs CAN. now here in canada base WRX costs 34gs. so you guys do the conversion factor. im usually good with car pricing before a car is even launched, so thats my prediction.

i completly agree with you. if you have a fast car. and your competition sell its car at a certain price, are you gonna launch your car on the market for 5 or 6 or 7 grand more? dont think so. its logic, you have to establish a foothold on the market. im 99% sure the evo will be the maybe slightly higher that WRX, if not the same price as the WRX. it think they gonna play it save and price very close to WRX

No the Evo is NOT made to compete with the base Wrx. It is to compete with the upcoming Wrx Sti. Also, there is no way Mitsubishi would sell them at 39k US dollars. They simply wouldn't sell. They will start around 29k..that's my guess

thats what im saying. they will price to match WRX. dont you see. the WRX will compete with our watered down EVO. and when STI arrives, will punch up the power, or launch Evo 8 or 9 or who knows at the time

Everything we've heard so far is that we will get the full blown Evo..not watered down. Why wouldn't they want to ****** as much of the Sti market as they can before Subaru releases it? I was told by a high up person in Mitsubishi that we wouldn't be disappointed when the specs are released. The Evo VIII will make its "world launch" in Jan. We will get what everyone else gets. I'm guessing over 275hp, 6-speed, etc.
Hopefully we'll all know within the next few months

I think Canada will be lucky to get the the Evo for less than $40,000 CAD. If you take the estimated price in the US $30,000 x $1.55 (approx current exchange rate) you get $46,500 CAD. Of course most car manufacturers in Canada don't sell cars here at that exact converted price but at a $3000 - $4,000 price break less which we get to make up for the extra 7 %GST (tax) cost we pay. So we are proabaly looking at around $43,000 for the Evo in Canada. That's assuming that will give us a price break like they are with the current lineup of cars listed in Canada.

Also that's assuming will even sell the Evo in Canada. I still haven't seen any confirmation that yet.

actually, who knows what the price will be. but whatever it is its gotta stay in competition range. the cant over price it alot. dont forget we getting the watered down versions. and YES will sell EVO in canada. i can tell you this is true, there might be a slight delay launch spring 2003. but evo will be sold in canada.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but what I heard was the Evo would NOT be sold in Canada due to different crash standards than USDM. And that Mitsu did not want to make a new bumper just for the Canadian market. I could be wrong though (hopefully), just something I heard.

actually 3K i'm pretty sure your right on that one. Canada has a higher crash test speed, like 7mph or something and couldnt get the car to get through with the FMIC and current bumper.
Sorry Canada no EVO for you, come back one year. *in soup **** voice

I don't think the bumpers should be a problem if you see what they did when they brought the Audi TT into Canada. From what I can see to make the TT conform to Canadian regs all they did was (correct me if I'm wrong Canadian TT owners) to add these bumper extentions. These extentions just look like they are just stuck over the original bumpers. So I can't see it being too much of a problem. The TT isn't exactly a high volume car in Canada so Audi couldn't have gone to too much trouble to modify it so maybe will do the same.

Good news for everyone... Here in colorado, ther are 6 dealerships in the denver area. I called around to all of them... weeded through all the bullsh!t, and found a dealership that told me that the car was going to arrive in dec or jan... that it was going to be priced between $26-$32, which is more than reasonable. I gave them my deposit of $500... which is the cheapest in the area, and I have it written on my buyers order " no more than MSRP" signed by the GM of that store... I am third on there list, and they said that they are going to get 3 or 4.

The good news: I dont think that they are screwing with me, I spoke only to the GM the entire time because she was the only person who had a grasp on all that jazz. that price range sounds congruent wityh all the other rumors, and I felt safe with trusting these guys

Isn't a WRX STi just a factory modded WRX by an aftermarket company that works with Subaru?

The Evolution 8 is competition for the STi in my opinion, NOT the current WRX.
