This is probably the worlds fastest Evo (circuit racing). Calling it an Evo might be a bit of a stretch though. Saw it race at Eastern Creek, in Sydney, Australia, and it blitzed an international time attack field. Did a 1.25 around the track on road tyres which is 5 sec per lap faster than our local touring car racers (V8 Supercars) do on slicks. If anyone knows of a faster circuit racing Evo I'd be interested. Just to put it into perspective the Sierra Sierra Evo, which was mighty quick, did a 1.29.02 a few years back. Nemo was 4 seconds a lap quicker, 4 seconds is a lifetime in racing circles.
Just a note, World Time Attack has now changed the rules in respect to aero on competing cars so these times might not be achievable again, at least by Evo's.

Look it up, there are articles on the build. In the end it was a far cry from a stock evo. As far as how evos stack up Nemo Racing Evo, HKS CT230R, Sierra Sierra Evo. All monsters that literally owned the time attack scene, I can't think of any chassis more dominant. CT9As are also heavily involved in Gr. N Rally and Hillclimb. Nowadays others are starting to catch up though.

I think it would kill any competition, it did last year when it raced. The 4g63 engine was perhaps the most conventional thing about it, it really won on it's aero package (it was said that it has as much downforce as a F1 car). I'm surprised that the R35 GT-R's haven't done more, maybe they're just to heavy. 4WD is a massive advantage in this type of racing (time attack), the WRX platform doesn't seem to work as well as the Evo, the GT-R's are too heavy, and maybe expensive in the case of the R35, which leaves, um, not much else. We will see what 2013 brings with the new aero rules.

I would say they punch above their weight as a platform, they are a well balanced car both on the road and track. You have to remember they are getting on now ( at least the 4g63 powered cars) and they are still just a 2L engine in a sedan chassis, they are not supercars, just well layout, fast, road cars with the advantage of 4wd and, probably most importantly, a massive enthusiastic fan base with some very smart tuners and chassis/ecu/engine developers plus a lot of industry support in the way of upgrades. As an example GSC are still bringing out new cams for a 6 year old, or older in the case of the Evo 8, engine. This is only possible because of great enthusiast support, both in the case of help in the cams development and people, like me, buying them. Cheers

no they will never fall behind in time attack. I just doesn't get much faster than cars like the nemo or sierra sierra, the only other time attack beast that is true competition out there is the NSX.

okay well at the track i often see the typical s2ks, porsches, vettes, barely any STIs and skylines are a dime a dozen in california. This being said, if we are talking about the average driver (me, you, your mommy and grandpa), all of these cars are very capable track cars which are not much faster than one another, IT ALL DEPENDS ON DRIVER. ive seen so many well set up s2ks (n/a) pass me even with the 200whp difference in power. so many factors make a car "fast" on a track including tires, suspension, brakes, etc.. AND ESP DRIVER SKILL.
Example for average driver:
on a small track for example adams raceway (large go kart track), i can't get out of 3rd gear. On this track miatas, s2ks, ITR's and many low powered cars will dominate the evo.
on medium-larger tracks such as buttonwillow or streets of willow its a draw, and power helps, but s2ks have the ability to maintain high speeds thru the turns because of their great weight distribution, alike the evo
