evo 8 wing

Hey guys I have just read up on the deconstruction of*the wing itself, and I was womdering if anyone would think that this would work or look good. The only part on my wing that has any problems are both the sides, the top and bottom are still perfect. I have tried sanding it down and re clearing it twice now and both times it has come back in a week looking like crap. What do you guys think if I just paint my sides black?? Just tape off the rest of the wing and spray both sides black and leave the top carbon? Input PLEASE I'm beyond sick of looking at it!

For the most part, it will look good (though it depends on the color of your car, somewhat). I think the JDM MRs for certain years all had black wings anyway. A few people have done it, and it looks no more out of place than the stock wing with the carbon fiber horizontal piece does.

Well, if you don't like it, you can always just re-paint it... again.

What about it before makes it end up looking like crap? Does the color not match the rest of the car? Is the paintjob just not good? What about black will not give you the same problem as whatever color you've been using?

Well its carbon on the sides to match the top so I have just been sanding it down and then re clearing it and it looks Good for a week then looks faded again. So I was thinking of just sanding it primer then black

I don't like that look on Evos. Just my opinion. Why don't you just take the wing off completely.

You should plasti-dip first and see if you like it. If you dont just peel it off and repaint.

Are you using spray can clear or using real automotive clear and a gun?

Plasti dip wouldn't be a bad idea. And I am using spray can. Anyone have a link to a wing that has this look to it?

That's probably your problem. Take it to an auto body shop and have them spray it down with some good clear. I got a steal on re-clearing my spoiler for $50.
