You have to bend them a bit, and then you can put screws through the plate into the tabs.

it would appear all you need to do is drill new holes and tap them... but i dont have the best angle to judge...

This all the gap you have with the plate installed.

This looks great, but could get it a little closer to the bumper? or was there a reason for it to stick out like that.

You can make it tight against the bumper. Thats how I have mineand I put some weatherstripping on the back bottom rear part of the plate to avoid it scratching the paint. I know the holes on the sides suck (i'm pretty picky as well) but think of them as vents to allow the trapped air in the bumper to escape

I've looked for the longest time. The only thing I could think of is to cut up a piece of carbon fiber or black abs plastic large enough to cover it, then put the plate over it. If you find anything clean and simple, let me know

I just laid out a piece of carbon fiber on a glass mold, then backed it up with some fiberglass mat.

I then cut it to shape with a band saw from a template I made from cardboard.

It's riveted to the JDM bumper. (this is an old picture, I now have black rivets in place)
