who converted this turbo

hey guys im pretty new to this forum and new to evos, i just picked up an 05 last week. the guy i bought it off didnt know much about it and he bought it from a car dealer. i was hoping you guys might be able to help me out a little bit

the turbo on the car at first appeared stock but then i saw 20g stamped into it. i was wondering if you guys could possibly give me more info on this turbo like who would have done the conversion and is it a half way decent turbo as far as hp wise

secondly, behind the glove box was a blitz sbc. it is fully hooked up to the car but is missing the display/control piece. does anyone know where i could possibly get one and what type do you think i have

from what i know/can tell the car has a full 3in turbo back, injen intake, ic harp pipes, hks bov, some kind of clutch and i believe it has a walbro 255 because of how loud it is.
i appreciate any help that you guys might be able to give me!!

The Evo ix was a 20g iirc so it's most likely a factory ix turbo.. With bolt one and e85 a lot get close to 400awhp. As for the other part I can't help.

Stock turbo is not a 20g.

Here is the info I found when searching.

Doesn't even look like a 20g, the comp cover looks like an 8 turbo (which agrees with the stamp)

what im saying is a 20g has a bigger compressor/ housing. If the housing wasn't changed, then the compressor isn't bigger.. so probably what happened is someone stamped 20g on there and the previous owner fell for it.

oh gotcha. i thought i remember reading that some of the conversions milled the inside of the 16g compressor housing in order to take the 20g wheel

Yes, back in the day shops were doing the 20g 5/10 or 6/12 blade in a 16G housing.

You could google it, threads of debate because that's when the green/red came out and everyone jumped on that instead IIRC
