Evoscan cable?

Hey all. I'm sure someone can answer this question. On my 05 Evo 8 I need to buy a cable from Evoscan so that I can log the car once I get it running. Any idea which cable I need? For a 2005 they have 3 cables: 1.3d, 1.3r, 1.3u. Can someone explain to me what the differences are for this and which one I need to buy?

The OpenPort 1.3D (only useful for Datalogging)
The OpenPort 1.3R (only useful for Datalogging and Reprogramming the ECU if using EVOSCAN, not ECUFLASH as it doesn't have the necessary ECUFLASH serial number)
The OpenPort 1.3U (useful for Datalogging and Reprogramming with ECUFLASH, has the necessary ECUFLASH serial number)

So this leads me to my next question, which one do I use if I'm using Tephramods? I guess I'm just kind of illiterate when it comes to tuning.

get a Tactrix openport 2.0 and the Reflash cable, [Reflash is for tuning]
You can log, run evoscan, ECUFlash, thats all ya need.

On the 2.0 you can run a SD card for loggin aswell.

Hmm now Im a little confused here. I didnt realize you can reflash using Evoscan...

I use Evoscan for logging the car and Ecuflash for reflashing the car. Tephramods is done through Ecuflash.

With that being said the cable you need is the 1.3U. Im not sure what kind of reprogramming you can do through Evoscan but if 1.3R is not compatible with Ecuflash then that is not the one you want. Hopefully someone else can chime in here and better explain that though and back me up, but that's the way I am interpreting it.

EDIT: Openport 2.0 http://www.tactrix.com/index.php?pag...mart&Itemid=53 is another choice and now that I see you own two evos, that is the one you should get as it supports your VIII as well as X's

no you cant reflash with evoscan, Just log and read DTC. EcuFlash is where you do your reflash and tuning with, and to read the maps on the car.
Just get the openport Tactrix 2.0 it does everything you need to do.
there is a reflash cable too you need if you wanna REtune the car.

^See, that is what I thought but after reading this it mentions reprogramming with Evoscan. Maybe that is in reference to displaying and clearing DTCs?

After looking further into this I believe that you actually can as part of the map tracer feature

http://www.evoscan.com/evoscan-gps-o...oscan-software

Scroll down to where you see the maps in the map tracer section. Note that option is there to flash to ECU

New to me but I don't use map tracer anyway so...

Interesting...Map tracer or not the cable you want is either the 1.3U or Openport 2.0 that way you wont be limited. I dont know any stock ecu tuners this day in age that dont use Ecuflash.

Not that it matters, but you can use 1.3R for flashing with EvoScan. I have been for 5 years. I use ECUFlash to tune and save then flash it with EvoScan. Most of my customers use 1.3U or 2.0.

You can actually tune AFR and Timing Maps with EvoScan too. I tried it, but I feel more comfortable doing it with ECUFlash.

It's a moot point, IMHO. I'm getting the 2.0 if I get a X and/or my cable goes bad. Like others have said, you won't be limited, except you can't do live tuning with the 2.0.

Good choice, hopefully you got it directly from Tactrix - much cheaper
