Gurus please come in here! Everything I need to know.
Ix is your better bet IMO, even if it has more mileage. since the white one was modified from what I can tell from the engine , it seems 1 of the 3 previous owner wanted high horsepower , modified manifold , IUP, changed filter and the plate that hide the wires on top of the cam cover missing, who knows what else was changed. It easier to diagnose a stock car then modified one which you have no idea what was change. If you can’t get the ix for 22-23k don’t sweat it much, there always another that will pop up. If you don’t like waiting and impatient choose wisely
Overpriced IMO. You can find good used Evos from private sellers on here for 20-22k and they are Evo IX's.
Look in the cars for sale section and link up w one that interests you.
Dont believe all the BS about people saying they babied it and never driving it hard.
You dont find a hot woman and tell her you just want to cuddle, you tell her you wanna f**k.
The good news is the 4G63 is a very resilient engine, almost bulletproof.
When you meet the seller, let him drive the car first to get a feeling for how he drives/mannerisms i.e riding clutch, gears grinding, etc, if he turns the radio on ask if he can turn it off so you can listen for odd noises. The tranny is the weakness in our cars, so if there is going to be any major damage its prob going to be your drivetrain.
Bring a friend with you to be devils advocate in case you get a clouded mind.
good luck and be patient.
wait for the right one.

This is good advice, for purchasing the car..
But the tranny is not considered the "weak" link, even if you mean the 6 speed.. If anything the clutch would be the weakpoint, which is how i want it. Clutchs by design, should break before your transmission. As far as I'm concerned, the Evos come with a very strong/ stout transmission, look at the issues the Subys run into. Grinding gears can usually be alleviated by a simple adjustment of the clutch, regardless of the tranny.

Don't worry about the rotors. They are wear items. Car looks great, but you should have a mechanic check it out beforehand not later. And everything he can find wrong with it, will be ammo for negotiation.
Yes! I will have it checked shake the suspension down check the tires before I say anything to them. Cant wait!
Don't listen to the people on here. $24500 for that Gray Evo is a great price and that's retail. Go look on here in this FS Section there is EVO IX's with 88k GOING FOR $23 THOUSAND private party and that doesn't include shipping and all the other stuff.
The car also looks like a Evo IX Special Edition (SE)... is it? If it is your buying one rare car. How is the interior on it? Does it have the SE "Red Stitched" Seating? If it does those seats alone are worth a lot of money. Does it have the XENON Hid headlights? I see it has the BBS Wheels and the SE Special edition Lip so I am assuming it is a SE Edition.
Anyone in the Illinois area knows these cars go for over $25 thousand easily. If the brakes are bad im sure the dealer will change them out for you or resurface them.

Overpriced?? Anyone who says that car for $24.5 is over priced needs to check the FS section here. Or take a look at the market in Chicago by looking at these two cars:

Scrolling though there I found ones going for $23-30,000 ranging from 80k to 20k miles. Also numerous 2005's going for over $23,000. And remember these are all private party sales. They are not retail. Retail usually asks for more money because they actually inspect the car in their service department and make changes when necessary. You also drive away with some sort of peace of mind knowing that if something goes wrong your not 100% screwed like you would be in a private party sale.
That gray one looks really clean and like a previous post on here said it looks like its a SE Edition which is an awesome package. You get all the options you can get in a MR besides the one negative feature in the MR the 6-Speed Trans. The SE has the 5-Speed Trans which is the one you want. The SE also has the red stitching on the recaro seats which EVERYONE wants in their evo.
In my opinion I would buy it, it looks like they were asking $26 on their website and already came down $1500. I see these things going for $26-$28 thousand around here. Just take a look at the link above.

If anything was seriously wrong with the car they probably would have fixed it. They are a franchise (Toyota) dealer they cant sell a car with bad brakes, etc.
