Safc question

Bought my car used and there was an safc installed already. I've read that we don't need it in our evos.
Question: Can I just disconnect it without any problems? Or are there steps to disconnecting it properly so no problems occur?
Any help will do. Thanks

From memory.....

All of the wires you can just disconnect from where they plug into the ECU harness.

EXCEPT.

The yellow and white wires from the SAFC are intercept wires... you need to connect the cut wire at the ECU back together.

If they used the parts supplied with the unit, it's just a male and female disconnect you can plug back in. but they may have soldered it, or rednecked it somehow.

But it's not hooked directly to the ecu wires. It's connected to my apexi power fc (a plug and play type ecu). Didn't have the stock ecu when I bought it. Planning on replacing that as well.
So if I just disconnect it will it have any effect?
Thanks

yes, it COULD cause you a few problems

if you have bigger injectors you will be removing the tuning that its doing. You'll need to make sure its not removing any signal.

And as the previous guy said, safcs change the incoming maf signal. So if its wired properly and you just unhook it, it will leave the car with no maf and it won't run.
