Motor mount bolts?

What started out as an engine bay cleaning project turned into me finding out my transmission mount bolt is bent and barely hanging on and the bottom mount with no bolt at all. I've had this car a little less than a year now and to my knowledge it's been this way the whole time I've had the car. Any advice on what I should do? Would new mounts be worth it or just get the nuts and bolts and call it a day?

HOLY HELL DUDE!

I would probably say start with getting a new bolt ASAP! That way, at least your motor is mounted properly. Since that mount is one of the most critical.

Once you get that sorted, you could certainly consider getting a new mount. The rubber in there may well have gotten torn up, and the steel tube for the bolt may have bent (though I'd think that's unlikely)...

But get a bolt ASAP!

Yea, definitely need to get a bolt in that. STM sells all the bolts if you need them. I would probably check over all of your engine mount bolts while youre at it.

Thanks guys! Yeah the car is staying parked until I get the bolts I need. The mounts don't look bad from what I can tell. The trans bolt is bent at a 45 degree angle. I'd really love to know how that happened and why there is not bottom mount bolt at all! The car drives and shifts fine is the crazy thing. The only time it makes a weird noise is when turning it off and I've now found the reason.

Anyways just to make sure all I need is the bolts and nuts? I've looked at one diagram of it and it didn't have the bolts listed separately and another was for the 5 speed. Thanks for any help and replies.

I believe there is 4 studs/nuts that hold the mount bracket to the trans, then 1 big bolt, washer, nut for the mount to the body. I wouldn't be surprised that someone did a clutch or something in the car put the bolt through the mount and forgot to put a nut in it and it worked its way out.

Wait... the only bolt that appears damaged is the through bolt for the mount. That's just a through bolt, and a nut. But it goes into a steel sleeve inside the rubber bushing. If that sleeve is bent, a new bolt won't go in. Just so you know.

There are 4 NUTS that mount to the 4 studs that hold the lower mount to the transmission. If those studs are bent, you're screwed. But they look fine in the photo?

On my trans I had 2 studs that got chewed up when doing my clutch, I ended up just replacing them with the correct length bolts. But what pilot is saying is true, if the metal sleeve is bent you may want to get another motor mount, they are pretty cheap, or get some after market mounts.

The mount seems to look bolted to the trans properly, just the through bolt is bent most likely from what the OP is describing.

Yeah where the mount bolts to the transmission is fine. It's the bolt that goes through the bushing that's bent and missing on the bottom motor mount.

I called my local Mitsubishi dealer just to see how much a motor mount was and they said 170. I haven't had time to look around much for aftermarket mounts but the ones I have seen are way cheaper than that. Can anyone recommend some I can look into? Thanks for all the feedback so far.

Here is a prothane kit. http://www.strictlyimportmotorsports...4g63-mount.htm

You can reuse the old mount, since it looks fine.

Just ordered the nuts and bolts from STM. Hopefully the bent bolt won't be too difficult to remove.

Alright guys, I got my bolts and nut and got them in and everything back together. Started the car and it was acting like it was getting too much fuel then I realized I had forgotten to plug the air flow sensor back in. After that everything was back to normal except for a CEL. Could that be just from where I didn't plug that back in and need to disconnect the battery for a few?

Yep just unplug your battery for a few and it should go away. If you don't want to do that, you could always go down to an autoparts store and clear the codes. Glad you got everything fixed!
