Opinions on Engine Management AEM or Stock ECU?
if you love dsmlink, why not stick with it????????????????????????????????????
thomas at ecmlink.com will internally convert your 95 ecu to plug directly into your evo 8. cost was $75 when I had it done. never happier. DMSLINK FTW
currently running a 95 DSM ECU in my 04 VIII with V3 link, speed density.

If the car you bought is an VIII or a IX, stock ecu is better than the AP IMO. On the X I'm less familiar.
And what is the verdict? You like the stock ECU better?
I was COMPLETELY unaware of this option. V3 ECMlink is great and I love it. I also have my DSM speed-density kit still, too, in addition to the AEM map sensor and IAT on the evo now. Is the 2G ECU plug and play with the EVO wiring harness?
Mine is an 03' and already has AEM V1 in it. I've seen so much capability in the OEM ECU that I figured I could sell the AEM and use a stock ECU. It'll be a 2.4L with a 6266, so I really just want to use whatever is easier for the DIY guy like myself.
Thanks for all the great responses!

yes.. if you send it to ecmlink and have them modify it internally, it will be a direct plug and play. with the exception of 1 wire. "56 Cut this wire, run a wire from 56 at the 95 ECU to pin 1 at the OBD2 port in the car (note that the image is of the OBD2 connector in the car). Cut pin 1 wire at OBD2 port, do not splice this in. You want the 95 ECU to be the only thing connected to this pin on the OBD2 port."
or you can plug it in and do the wiring externally yourself

putting the stock evo maps in dsmlink

this will also give you the ability to wire the wideband to the rear 02 and datalog it

Thanks, silent white. It's tempting but I think I'm leaning towards stock ECU still. All the opinions are great and it's definitely helping. The more I research the more capability I see with the stock ECU. I've still got to put the motor in so I have plenty of time to make a final decision. Thanks again everyone!
