Purchase without seeing
I purchased my car NEW FROM THE DEALER sight unseen.
let's just say it took 3 roundtrip plane trips, and a lawsuit to make things right.
NEVER. EVER... EVER buy a car sight unseen.

NEVER. EVER... EVER buy a car sight unseen.
I bought my car sight unseen. I found it online, 7 hours away from me. Since I waited for a long time to buy an Evo, I pretty much told myself I wouldn't buy something I didn't want. I had certain criteria, (miles, color, as close to stock as possible, etc etc). I found my car, and did everything I could. I had them take a good amount of pictures of the engine bay, interior, under the car, trunk, etc etc. Anything I would look at as if it was right in front of me. I then had 3 people look at the pictures themselves to see if they could see things I might of missed. I filled out a credit app through the dealership, got approved and had them set up the paperwork before I had even got there. Within a week I drove to pick up my car. There were questions the entire time going through my head such as "what if I get there and it's not how they described at all, or what if they try to pull something on me with the financing, etc etc". There is always that slight chance. Looking back at it, I wouldn't have done anything different. In my eyes, my car is perfect. I couldn't have gotten a better deal, with the same mileage, and the price I paid for it and the condition my car is in. It literally was a diamond in the rough, and people who have seen my car in person can and will vouch for that. Will my experience happen to everybody? Probably not. But if you want it bad enough and you have it in your head that you may be disappointed and it may not be exactly what you want, I say go for it. It cost a little bit more money and takes a bit more time out of you, but in the end when you have what you want it will be worth it to you.
Probably everything I hoped for and more. I truly didn't know what I had until people started seeing my car in person and commenting on it. It's exactly what I wanted and I am 100% glad I made the decision I did.
i bought mine without seeing it in person. it was in perfect condition in and out.. i just couldn't test drive it.
aside from being visually flawless, the bov was installed backwards, the upgraded injectors were poorly tuned, the boost controller looks like $5 from ebay, boost leaks everywhere, and failing ics motor..
upon arrival, test drive showed that it ran like crap and stalled out when letting off the gas. would have liked to slap the previous owner, but i bought it from a dealer.
I knew I would likely run into issues with performance, but didn't care much having come from the world of DSMs. It ran like a champ after I pulled the ECU and put in dsmlink and resolved many of the issues that were a result of him being a retard. I would say that it’s always a gamble when buying remotely, but if you know what you are doing in regard to tuning and troubleshooting then it shouldn’t be too much of a problem. I made sure over the phone that it started and drove, that it shifted smoothly and clutch held fine. You could likely find one of us in the area that the car is for sell that will go down and test drive it for you.
Best of luck.
