Annoying Heat Shield Rattle Fix?

So I've been lurking the boards for a LONG time just getting the information and I needed without making my presence known and abused this place like a side chick. For that I apologize dearly. I need to make a more conscious effort in becoming part of the community so I'd like to say hello officially (although I might have posted a introduction years ago).

Lately I've been dealing with an annoying rattle sound under my car. I concluded while changing my oil and checking if anything is loose that it was a heat shield. Now my question to you all, after searching all all over this site for a fix, is that the only fix I found is to remove the heat shield completely. But I've been looking around the interwebs (yep just said that ), and found this video. Thought it was an interesting potentially short term fix until I buy new piping and get em coated.

Do you think this is feasible for a short term fix? Its an annoying sound and I wanna just rip the damn thing off but I'm not sure if thats a good idea.

Thanks in advance

-Jaan (pronounced like Jon)

P.S. MODS, Is there any way I can change my username without creating a new account?

How can it not work if you clamp the right piece. You will know when the rattle is gone.

Its clearly the heat shield. I wiggled it around and it was obvious.

I will try the clamp method and post an update.

There are multiple heat shields on the exhaust.

Mine just eventually fell off, and that god awful noise went away. You think a heat shield rattle is annoying, just wait until your transfer case starts to go up.

Glad I don't have that issue yet!!

From what I remember seeing under the car, there was two or three heat shield starting from the DP by the oil pan. The 2nd and possibly the third one were loose. It sounds like someone shaking a tin can with a few nuts and bolts in it. Crazy annoying. Going to purchase the clamps today.
