Rough Idles
Rough Idles
2005 Evo MR 6speed
So this problem would have to have happened about last month ago one time. Recently this problem happened 4 times this month. Now it happens as I come to a stop and happened during LA traffic.
She would start to idle real roughly and randomly change idle from below 1000rpm and get as high as 2000rpm on its own. temperature is fine. And she would shake when we accelerate(had to pull over). When I turn her off for a couple minutes she starts up like a champ.
No leaks. Recently there has been some smoke coming from the back around the intake.
PLEASE HELP!!!
What are signs of a Turbo Leak?
It drives fine then randomly it will feel like the intercooler piping has come off.

First, check the small vacuum hoses that go behind the intake manifold to make sure none have popped off. There is one in particular that is part of the EGR system that likes to pop off. Sounds like this might be your problem. If it did pop off, zip tie it onto the nipple.
See this thread, and check those smaller hoses (the EGR hose I mentioned plugs into the goldish colored EGR valve on the right side of the picture)
If that doesn't solve the issue, do a boost leak test. Really, you should do a boost leak test regardless as the test should be a routine check.

I agree with the two suggestions. Do a boost leak test ASAP and report back.
If that checks out then I'd go over the entire engine from compression test, leak down, coolant pressure test, etc.
Smoke can be from a leaking EGR or there could be an exhaust leak. Can you feel any exhaust/air pulsating out near the intake. Careful, it could be a little warm.

P0171 and P0300So my car is stumbling under acceleration and if I’m on the freeway it will surge. Getting the roughest of all rough idles.Replaced MAF already response is a lot better but still the same problem.A while ago one of the injectors failed on the freeway and spewed gas out of the top of the injector replaced the gasket and it worked fine since. Don’t know if this is any part of the problem. When I put the rail together i tighten the regulator ***** tight and I just loosened it*today*ran fine but problem came back. The only mods we have are just different cams, don’t know what brand or anything was told they were custom.Threw a P0401 I believe when I first got the car cleared it and that specific code hasn’t come up again but was wondering if I should just replace the EGR and Solenoid.*ASBK

My car started and idled fine cold, but when I would run it on the highway for some time and get it warm and then come to a stop like at a toll or exit ramp, it would have a chuggy idle. It was throwing EGR codes so I cleaned the valve, still happened. Then I swapped my EGR solenoid, problem solved. 06 IX GSR w/ 75k
Well I didn't get the bottom bolt for the solenoid off but I plugged in the new used one and same problem so either his was defective or what not.
Replaced the o2 same code and problem getting a new solenoid and a couple of gaskets hope it works.

Fixed the P0171. Because the last guy forgot the gasket.
But I still get P0300 system misfire. Checked plugs, sparkplug spacing, injectors, and exchanged fuel rail.
I add fuel before she acts up as long as I keep it above 1000rpms she's fine.
changed out egr solenoid as well.
