Exclamation Evo @ 150mph!! So Stable!!!

late last night i got to enjoy my evo at 150mph for the first time! felt so very stable almost like driving at 65-70mph..... I did this on non public roads... so what do other evo owners think of the cars stability at these speeds???

I hope this non public road was well maintained, because a pothole or roadkill at 150 would be ugly. But, yes the EVO is very steady at obscene speeds on smooth asphalt.

Or CrazyMoFo-Evo.

Unfortunately (or fortunately?) I don't have access to a private road that would allow me to get my EVO up that fast. Nor do I have the desire to push my car to the edge. The EVO may be fast but it's not invincible.

the wing in the back has a lot to do with the stability of the car, it was specifically designed to keep the rear "glued" to the road at speeds above 80mph

i got mine to the 156 limit when it was stock...very stable yet still very scary.. things are flying by you soo fast...one wrong move and its over... but i agree with you...had to do it once and get it out of my system... the evo never ceases to amaze me

yeah its quite sweet but honestly i prefer cutting down back roads at alot lesser speeds its much more fun and less abusive to the car....

When my WRX was totally stock, I've taken it up to 230 km/hr(145 mph), still pulling slightly, on a long straight wide (4 lanes) and well surfaced road devoid of other traffic. These cars (WRX, STi, Evo etc). are built to be very stable at those speeds.

Oh and please don't do this on public roads. When I was decelerating from my top speed, an idiot cab driver suddenly turned into my path from a concealed side road when I was around 200 km/hr (125 mph). There was no time to brake, no time to horn or get angry, but very, very luckily I was able to keep my head and just flick my steering to get into the next lane and avoid a very ugly rearending. The car didn't threaten to careen off the road or anything, it was so surefooted, but it still scared the crap out of myself and my friend in the passenger seat.

If you have to take such emergency avoiding action in your Evo you may not be so lucky. Your steering rack is so quick that the slightest flick at those speeds may see you over the curb. Best to avoid these situations, as I've resolved to do from then on. Even "non public roads" can have unexpected obstacles.

Hmm I thought I talked to you before about this. I don't know why you decided to post this up yet again. I coulda swore the thread I trashed earlier was named, "150mph on public roads...." Now, the description on this thread says "on non public streets of course!" Sure fooled me. Nothing came out of this thread except numerous OT (for the most part useless) posts.
