Yeah, I'm not taking that car back we have already began the arbitration process. More than trusting the dealers work they have never really found the cause of the problem and that is what concerns me. So, it's fine now who's to say it won't be tomorrow. They can't show me a broken part and they can't find an electrical problem so to me that means the knock sensor is doing it's job. It hears something and pulls timing. It can't be bad gas because I ran three tanks through before I brought it to them and they have run two tanks through since they've had it and it's done it the whole time.

I spoke to mitsubishi yesterday and they are currently reviewing my case and will have a decision on buying it back early this week. Which hopefully means tomorrow. I'm not sure if anyone still cares but, I figured I'd keep you guys up to date, as well as keep a record for myself.

...i figured i'd save you the time...

good luck getting this resolved... i'd be pleasantly surprised to hear that mitsubishi's being cooperative about it... and all in all, it sounds like you have a decent service manager at your dealership.

some of us can't say the same for the degree of cooperation we've received...

I have my district reps. assurance that mits. is going to buy the car back eventhough, Mits. has not officially stated that yet. Yeah, the service manager at my place is a good guy. He has gone out of his way to make sure that I'm taken care of and that goes a long way with me. The fact that I told him and his shop foreman that I would take them on a tour of my shop probably didn't hurt either.

Not to ask an obvious question... but how are you sure it isn't knocking?

Have you hooked an obdII datalogger on there and looked for the ecu pulling timing.

Also have you even had a boost gauge on there to make sure the turbo isn't making too much boost.

Had the boost gauge on there wasn't even making 15 lbs. of boost. Too make a long story short they eventually figured out that it wasn't a misfire and it was the PCM pulling time and they don't know why. I said the same thing earlier in this thread. Bottom line is it just went away as suddenly as it started with no apparent reason. Even after they changed all these parts it was still doing it then, they started it up one time and it was gone. Which is the main reason I'm trying to get them to buy it back. They didn't fix it, it just went away.

I came into this post pretty late. (5 pages already) My first thought was fuel cut = replace boost solenoid, have a nice day. But after reading the post, 30min later, I honestly think you are doing the right thing. Even though It's MAGICALLY fixed now, like you said they don't have a broken part to show you and no proof of an electrical problem. This just means your gremlin saw the DM coming a mile away and won't come back out until your warranty runs out. J/K.
Anyway your are on the right track and I think it would be very interesting to find out exactly what does about replacing the car for you.

So... Good Luck, most of all, and keep us informed on whats going on. I would love to know what they end up doing.

P.S. I wonder if they will supply you with an exact replacement or do you get to choose a new color and all. ALSO you should ask them to throw in the Sports Meter pkg. on the new one for all the problems.

I believe that mitsu will have a reflash for the models that have the P0300 code, did the service manager tell you anything about that?

He didn't say anything about the po300 flash. The car only threw that code once and I believe that was because of the car pulling time so often that that's what caused it to miss.

MYEVO8U, I appreciate your support. Mitsubishi seems to be trying to do the right thing but, you know how it is. No one is really sure what is going on and everything moves pretty slowly. I finally had enough and called mits. five times in one day and got to talk to someone in mediation, they are going to call me back on monday and let me know a time frame in which they will have a decision on what they are doing.

Forgive me for not reading the whole thread but....a severe lurch occurs in an evo when rolling off on boost if.....the BOV is installed backwards. This sounds silly but when I got my trans fixed under warrantee the dealership mechanic made this mistake. It takes 5 minutes max to fix. Everything in the engine will test and work perfectly except in this situation.

I'm very interested in what's going on. I'm bringing my car back to the dealer for the second time with this P0300 code. My car misfires in 5th gear at around 3500 RPM cruising with no load on the accelerator. It goes away after I drop the RPM's. Then it's fine again. My problem seems to cycle every 20-30 mins. on the highway.

The p0300 is a common thing for alot of Evo's and they are working on a fix from what I have heard. It took my car a really long time to throw the p0300 code as it was not really misfiring but constantly pulling timing out of the motor for what ever reason. I hope you have better luck with getting your problem fixed than I have had.
