Too many alignments?

Hello all. I'm looking at an Evo 8 SSL and noticed that in the carfax the vehicle had 5 alignments since new. I am brand new to Evo's, but an alignment every year and a half or so seems a bit odd. Is it normal for these? The car is stock other than exhaust. Could it have been lowered with different wheels and tires before, then reverted back to stock when it was sold to the dealer?

Thanks!

Nothing wrong with too many alignments. Technically you should be getting one every year. Depending on what you are doing with the car you will soon realize how important a proper alignment really is.

Personally I view something like that as a good thing as it shows they know a thing or two about keeping up to date with a proper alignment especially on a performance oriented car.

In my case I just got my 4th alignment of the year. I autox my car though and am constantly testing and tuning different setups so my suspension has been apart way too many times to count this year.

Thanks for the info. Right now I have a 98 jeep wrangler and alignments aren't a big deal since toe is the only thing we can adjust. Good to know that that's fairly normal.

My car is aligned at once a year, or checked at least.

An Evo, with its stout suspension, barring unusual events, can go for years without an alignment. The only thing adjustable on the front of a stock Evo is toe. Well, you can turn an out of round bolt on the strut and vary the camber a little. There is selection A and selection B and that's it.

Many of these cars get used hard, owners like to tinker or shop time and alignments are part of that.

So, normal.

probably had modds (ie. springs, RCA kit). I had mine aligned a few times in one year. Just means the owner takes care of it. Or they hit a lot of curbes.

It's very possible that it was lowered then returned to stock before trading it in. It doesn't really matter though as it's a good thing to check and isn't an indicator of something being wrong.

I've already had two this year and will be getting my third once I install some Whiteline suspension goodies.

I have aligned mine probably 12 or so times in the past couple years... Generally for some suspension work or getting it just right or just because.

I have lifetime alignments for free through Firestone though so it really isnt a big deal.

Id say it just means that the PO took good care of it! But it is possible they had some suspension goodies on it before.

I heard it's good to do before hitting the track, but that goes back to testing out different suspension setups. He may just have had coil-overs and couldn't get it just right. Either way it's an indication of care.
