First Post! (New user here).

Does anybody know if you can get a Costco deal (I've seen reports of $500 over invoice) on 2003 Evo's still? I went over Costco's website with a fine-tooth comb, and while the 2003 Evo is still a "searchable" item in their vehicle research section, when I try to inquire about an Evo (request for local dealer info), it only allows me to select 2004 (heh) or 2005 (hahahaha) model years.

Anybody had experience with this? I'm looking to get a 2003 Evo as it seems that model year will be the only thing on the local lots for the next coupla months.

Other question, for those who have looked into the Costco deal: I'm in L.A., I'm surrounded by Mitsu dealers, and yet my Costco search for a dealer comes up empty (90232 ZIP). Is participation in the Costco buying program a dealer-by-dealer thing, or is it a broader agreement with Mitsu. of America?

Thanks

Mitch

Hey Mitch welcome.

I tried to go through the Costco program to get my Evo. Basically the Costco program does not cover the Evo. I went through the website and when you get to the end it comes up and tells you that this car is not availble through the service but you can still contact the dealer and go through them. Well the dealer contacted me and I told them what I was looking for and they quoted me a price of $35,000. I told them that this car was going for much less elsewhere and that I was not willing to pay a premium to get into one. I told them to make me a better offer or I would not buy it from them. They did not so I took my business to Spokane.

Only some dealers are Costco dealers so there may not be one in your area. Not sure how close you are to Capital Mitsubishi they quoted me the best price but with travel to Cali or shipping the car in Spokane was just as cheap. I ended up getting at about $500 over invoice just by e-mailing the dealers and getting quotes.

Let me know if there is anything I did not answer or if you need anymore info.

finding Mitsu dealer in LA
Hey Mitch, welp I suggest reading up on the info on home page as I have found it very useful. Toward the bottom right you will find which Dealers to boycott because of their insane markups and importantly which are willing to sell at Msrp CLOSE TO US IN LA however Thousand oaks, and one futher south El cajon or somthing I believe are willing to sell at rp. You can find this all at that site. By the way I went to Miller Mitsu in Van Nuys one of the Boycotts just to see the car in person and they had one Tamarac left it was obviously the tester and he wanted to sell it bad, "tires worn very nicely on front rt " Any how this ones sticker was at 31,000 somthing. I firstly asked the dude about selling at Msrp he said the mark up was only about 2 thou. I was like right...... Anyhow he later told me nothing is set in stone though, and they will be getting a new shipment in on April 04 be careful and read as much up on the car as Iam before I buy.. Cuz when I called they we already asking what did I want to equip the car with meaning they were prolly ready to charge me extra for stuff that already comes with the car.....

Dealers pay for this service, thus alot of dealers opt not to pay and aren't listed.

Thanks to all for some good info! Kinda what I expected... I'll hit up the email route and see what shakes loose. Btw I read over the Boycott list, very helpful indeed. Interesting thing is that the corporation I work for has a deal with the Miller Auto Group, one of the dealers in SoCal suggested as a boycott target. I wonder if they include the Evo under the terms of that deal, or if they will insists on a large markup. I will post whatever I find out.
