What size AN hose for radiator hose?

I've seen more than a couple guys running AN fittings on their radiators, but of course now that I'm searching instead of browsing, I can't find them. So those that are using AN fittings and hose, what size fittings are you using on the radiator and water neck?

Don't do it, it does nothing but hurt performance. You wouldn't cut your oil feed line in half just for the look.

most are 12AN but to keep the same ID as the hoses you would need to go 16AN

Pretty sure your right too, the ID of the rad hose is something like 1.3".. I don't have one handy though to measure. -16 is going to be 1" and -20 is 1-1/4"

Not doubting you. Just curious as to how it hurts performance.

They are nominal sizes, fittings and hose are atleast a sixteenth to eighth under their respective an size.

Well depending how restrictive the fitting is or isn't you can achieve higher saturation levels which lead to over heating. The stock system doesn't maintain 100 full upper hose to my knowledge it's a big river bed with slightly more than a large creek running thru. This is my visual observation at this point in time. Rpms obviously change that and let the river flow. The thermostat is restrictive so as long as you're not choking more than the thermostat does you won't impede significant flow. You may work the water pump harder in my opinion since there will be less delta P at that point.

I have some -20 fittings here, they fit inside the rad hose. Meaning smaller than stock. Get a hard pipe if you want a clean look, polished ss or something.
