Koyo Evo half radiator fitment and daily driving?

In regards to:

Koyo Evo 7-9 Half radiator
Part# HH032412
I've seen a couple threads but without any useful info..

Questions:
-In general, what modifications (if any) did you need to do to make it fit ?
-Does it fit the stock location lower mount w/out any modifications?
-Does it also fit the top driver side w/out modifications?
-Does it perform well to be used as a daily driver all year round? What is your experience with it?

Off topic (Ebay half radiator)
I recently purchased the Ebay civic half radiator with 2 row design. In order for it to fit I would have to weld a new mounting piece on the middle area of the radiator to fit on the stock lower mount. Also the lower radiator hose is on the far left. It should be relocated towards the middle to better clear the front motor mount and utilize the oem lower radiator hose. And lastly a new top mount would need to be welded on the radiator itself unless you want to create a new bracket. But fab work work for the top mounting doesnt bother me, its the other stuff that do. So I am curious about the Koyo Evo specific half radiator with its drive ability and fitment.

My OEM radiator works fine, I just want to run a half radiator due to the space it creates. Read great things about the Ebay half radiator (2 row /dual core version), but since Koyo is not 2 row but their own "hyper flow" technology I would like to know more info about its use as a daily. Koyo does mention somethings that its not intended for long racing etc... But what about daily?

I have it. I have the mishimoto AMS half radiator. Fits perfect. Works great even with the 98
degree traffic on 294 weather.

Any more insights on the Koyo half radiator ? How the fitment is and any modifications needed to be done for the install?

It fits nicely. Only thing you would have to do is drill some holes for one of the upper mounts.

Thanks for the response. You mention we need to drill a hole for one of the upper mount. So then the one driver side mount fits and and drilling would only need to be done to fit a mount for the left (passenger) side mount?

Thanks,

Only modification I did to mine was making a new top mount. I had Stm rad brackets and they were to thick and touched the hood on the pass side.

It fits the drivers side mount perfectly. Koyo recommends you move the passenger side lower mount to work with the new radiator.

Yes the drivers mount fits well.

I have only 20 miles on mine so no daily feed back yet. Its too cold in Chicago to tell how effective it is anyway.

I am local so if you want to check mine out pm me.

I have been running our own Koyo Half size kit for two years and we recommend them for all of our Forward Facing Manifold customers and anyone looking to save weight. They work great!

Thanks,
Yes. I didn't put on the upper passenger mount on mine because my intake was pushing on the fan which was pushing the whole radiator forward. Instead I just put some sort of foam/rubber piece on the rad support so it doesn't wear a hole into my radiator.
One thing to not overlook is the fan. I got a 13" pull fan from thefanman.

It may be a bit overkill, but I wanted the best cooling possible.

bump- I have the same questions as OP. my stock rad has sprung a leak and I am now considering the koyo half sized radiator- just need to know what all needs to be done to mount.

do I need new hoses? (i'm thinking yes)
can I mount with existing radiator mounting hardware?
which fan is recommended to run w/ this unit?

I was goning to buy one yesterday but found a mishimoto half for the same price. The koyo needs a new bottom mount made and the lower rad hose rubs on the front moun. as is. Also need a new upper hose, and the fan stm has on their website fits just fine.

Mishimoto is a drop in pretty much

My koyo radiator fits perfect . As Long as you run a decent fan you'll be safe .
